It's impressive how much power it guzzles. More than twice as much as the reference 3070.

I want to know how it performs against other 3090s, no info provided in the graphs other than the reference, despite all the other cards you have reviewed. Makes these reviews of limited use. Sorry.

I would like to see the comparison with other same chipset cards myself. But given the extra work that would be involved (to date five 3090s reviewed, eight 3080 reviewed) the reference card is a good representation of the chipset. If we are interested in how this card performs against other 3090s will can open the other 3090s reviews to get their game performance.

I was a bit blunt in my comment, I can be dead pan sometimes. I too appreciate all the effort this site makes, it is my favourite. What you suggest is what I occasionally do.

Roughly on par with the strix, even if the suprim uses cheaper caps.

Can we still expect lightning or this is best as it gets?

when was the last time you heard of Lightning? I think they buried it when introducing Gaming X. Which I think was the product of that AMD/NV scuffle when Nvidia asked for different branding. At least that's how I 'member.

There was a 2080ti lighning for a ridicilous 1600$. Jay reviewed it and it was a pretty bad overclocker (he blamed the silicon lottery) For me personaly best design was the 780 and 290x lightning cards. From then i dont even pay attention but in my mind i always though thats the msi flagship.

Thanks, it was more a badly put request in general though 🙂

Do custom cards have a point anymore? The overclocking abilities of new cards are bad, so why waste the extra money?

They are auto overclocked already and very quiet. Granted not a large overclock but it depends what you are after, silence is golden.

I see that Hilbert has now added a Brand Performance Comparison to his reviews. So you should be good to go in 4 years when it is time to replace your 3090.
