BS If the game NEED that much Vram, it's likely on a very low fps. Turn down the graphics a notch, and yo will get higher fps and no drop in min fps what so ever 🙂 We don't make problems just to make them 😉

I disagree. The 3070 Ti should be a forward looking 1440p card and it is not. Like you said there will be games one would need to turn down settings to get high FPS. Its kind of disappointing a card that is going to sell for $1,000 only has 8GB of VRAM. I wish they bumped it to 12GB that would have been a perfect long term 1440p card.

I disagree, 4k gaming will become standard in 1-2 years, 1080p or 1440p are low rez for most of the gamers, the more ram the better. NVIDIA gaming cards are not used solely for gaming they are used for rendering CGI images and animations also where Vram is a necessity. I don't understand the purpose of this card with 8GB of vram when a 3060 has 12GB, same for the 3080ti with 12GB, its like they could not afford to buy more VRAM. It feels in terms of VRAM like a ripoff

The gpu itself isn't fast enough, that's the point. You will allways find a bottleneck in the system. Where it is depend of how much money you are willing to pay. If you don't like it, don't buy it. 😉 Then buy 3080/3080ti or 3090, and use even more money 🙂

nizzen is right the amount of ram a card has is basically passive storage, a buffer... it puts textures in there but the processing unit (gpu) is pasting those textures onto objects... in a perfectly optimized scenario you have as much ram as your processing unit can process in real time plus the amount you need for storage (buffer)... that is why huge memory buffer is pointless on a low end card, it cant process it fast enough to actually mater... the 12gb on 3060 are utterly pointless... it probably has 8gb to fill a market slot by price/performance, if they went with 12 that would also make the bus 320bit and would also probably boost performance too high...

4K gaming isn't nowhere near 1-2 years ahead. Tbh I'm still the only one from my friends almost that has a NON 1080 (or less)60Hz monitor. Same for 240Hz, I'm the only one having one. I bought RX580 because people told me back then than 4GB will be useless. Here I am, 3-4 years later, never ACTUALLY used more than 4GB AFAIK. (yea I know, only 1080p). My friends are still happily playing with 1GB vram lmao

My Msi 3070 gaming xtrio has no issues playing games at 4k, the division2....Death stranding....Assetto Corsa Competizione.....Farcry 5 all run fine, sure if you intend on running 4k@144hz then you need more power but if your running 4k@144hz and higher then you should not be looking at a mid range gpu, so maybe i have to tone down the ultra details a bit...but at 4k there is very little difference to see between high and ultra settings in any of the games i mentioned.

It is plenty fast for 1440p and likely limited by 8GB in a few cases. I do not want a 300w+ card so this fit the bill pretty well. For the money though it just doesn't seem to have very long legs. So I wont be buying it. If my GTX 1070 can hold on maybe I will just wait for the next round. AMD's RDNA 3 on 5nm should be pretty awesome for 1440p.

BS https://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/resident_evil_village_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,7.html It is already starting to show that 8gb both for the 3060ti and 3070 are on the low side, they get beaten on uhd +rt by the 3060 non ti ... The 3060 non ti achieved an average of 52fps .... So both the ti and especially the 3070 has the horse power to drive 60+ fps but they do not have enough memory to do that .... And such examples will keep coming .

Under 50 fps... Like I said, low fps.... What is the point playing on max settings to get under 60fps? Take down AA a notch, and get way better fps, and no problems with too little vram. Staged problem 😉 If you play max setting in 4k, why on earth not buying 3080/3080ti/3090? I guess people like to focus on the negative sides, instead for all the positive.

i would agree that turning few settings down the diferene is minimal and for the most part if you do not take snapshots to compare em side by side you would not be able to tell but the point here is that the cards are not but a few months out in the market and you have to do that , while you wouldn't have too if they had more ram ..why be ok with that ? and yes don't like it don't buy it i agree with that too .... while it might not be a big deal breaker does not mean we have to be ok with that .... year after year the vram demand rises , what i am afraid with those cards is that they will run out of Vram before they run out of computational power to run games
