Looks like im grabbing 2x of these when they back in stock (expected Tuesday), as my board should do em in SLi. πŸ˜€ I was thinking about just grabbing another 290 when the prices drop again, but i reckon they'd be too hot, as my single ones already hitting 80-85 (in a Phantom 820 as well), so 2x would no doubt push temps right up, plus the 970s would use way less power as well, as 2x of them in SLi, would only use slightly more than my single 290, or maybes not, as im probably over the rated 250w with it overclocked to 1080/1300.

I told you man. Those sli cards you listed were out around the time when your mb was released.
Ahh right, thanks πŸ™‚

Would 2x of these in SLi be worth it then ?, specs on left, will be in 1080p, 144Hz, and would be able to use 3D Vision, only sticking point is, my 920s only at 2.90Ghz.

1 no, 2 maybe.. Single 980GTX would be better imo. Btw do OC that cpu :P at least 3.4 - 3.6ghz would help a lot.

I wouldn`t buy a single 970 or 980 with your current 290x. Overclock that cpu to 4ghz if possible, if its too hot with hyperthreading turn it off. 4ghz and 970 sli shoud not be too bad though I think it would bottleneck sli a bit.
BIB, If i knew how to, i would πŸ˜€ 😱 Hmmm, don't fancy swapping to a 980, as the performance increase from my 290x isn't worth it, 2x 970s would be the best, as don't cost much more than a 980, and would giver a much bigger performance increase.

raise cpu multi, raise blck, rase VTT/QPI :P πŸ˜€ Yeah that's true 980GTX is a sidegrade but if you plan on SLI later it can be a better investment then those 2x 970 now.. But do you even need more then 290X power? Does it lag somewhere? Imo you would see bigger gains if you upgarded to 4790K + 2400mhz ddr3 + z97 mobo and really make that 290x come to life πŸ€“

I'll give it a go :P I don't need more power no, as my 290x cuts through everything with ease, i just like gfx cards, and new ones when they come out πŸ˜€

No i don't know how, one thing ive never done, overclocking of a CPU, only overclocked my gfx cards, and that was starting from the 7970, as it was easy to do by moving the sliders in the CCC, and now i use AfterBurner, as thats easy as well πŸ˜€ Could give me your settings, as i could always try them, although id rather go up in increments, just in case, as with my luck, it may not like 4ghz :P

Dear MSI 970 Gaming OCs owners, now after 1.5 months after release, how are you feeling about your cards? Any problems/bugs/tips? I'm asking because I'm finally set on upgrading and I want to get 2x 970s (and keep a 680 for physix ololol, I know). I'm also inclined to stick with MSI because I had awesome experience with them lately. The Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970 also looks great (and I had very good experience with Gigabyte as well, in the more or less distant past though). I know there are many reviews out there (read a lot of them), but user experience especially over a bit of time is more important to me. So, go ahead please and thanks! πŸ™‚
