As i posted in another thread, this cooler has a design flaw. The Heatpipers of the Heatsink block the ability to blow air against the PCB. I bet if it was more open it could drop the GPU Temp by a fair bit aswell.

Think i am a go on one,my dcII is capped out at 1.4v. I did think that the lightning would have a 120% powerlimit stock but only 109 that has to be dealt with pronto.

do you guys think this is worth upgrading to or should I stick with my 570 SLi? BTW running at 2560x1440 @96Hz. I was also thinking of waiting for new amd cards

Looks good, though I like the design on my 680s lightnings more. That beeing said I am looking forward for the "maxwell lightning", whenever that comes out. The performance boost is just not high enough for me to upgrade just yet.

It's also tested on an open air test bench. So temps are probably going to be anywhere from 5-10c higher in an actual pc case depending on air flow.
Incorrect, in fact a good ventilated chassis often shaves off a couple of degrees as it creates proper airflow.

I already have an LN2 BIOS that allows the power limiter at 300%. The problem however remains the voltage limiter (but that applies to all brands). Anyway, if anyone decides to purchase and would like to try that BIOS, let me know.

I have never liked cards with fans that just blow the heat all up in your case like that. Yea, they work great on a test bed sitting out in the open but most people don't run their card on an open air test bed.

If we rotate the card and look at the backside we can see two SLI connectors, so in theory four cards in quad-SLI GPU mode are supported. But from what we learned, 3-way SLI is the maximum mode supported by NVIDIA. Now worries though as quad SLI is difficult and often a maze of driver problems, Nvidia has never really recommended and actively supported quad-SLI. We really recommend to go with a maximum of 2 maybe three cards anyway.
HUH? Is this meant for only the 7 series or 780's or all quad sli in general. Never have i herd this before. I know scaling and drivers get goofy at 3 and over. But im confused. Maybe iv just skimmed to many video card reviews and never read this before. Thought quad sli was always supported.

No, I know that shortly before the 780 release Quad SLI support was pulled completely except for two dual-GPU cards. It can be enabled but requires a modded inf.

Pricing needs sorting, as you can get the much faster 7990 for around £100 less here in the UK.

It will be just under 699 in EUR.

Damn that's still a a good chunck over €100 per card than what I payed for my 680 lightnings 1+ year ago.

Thank you Hilbert for the update.. Now when it drops to 650EUR that would be a reasonable price imo.
Nah, still overpriced. Maybe around 550€.

The 300% VBIOS does not work for me because after the flash Windows recognizes the card only as standard with stop code 43 no matter what I do.:bang: EDIT: got it working:banana:

300% VBIOS is no more, Nvidia have had it removed :P
UPDATE: THIS FILE HAD TO BE REMOVED AS NVIDIA WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT.
