- and the war in Ukraine and it's rising energy prizes?
Yes the gas/electricity companies and worse than NVidia and using war as excuse to jack up prices they change to extortionate levels... they use excuse of "hedging" and they did this at the height of prices they say - funny they always hedge at the highest prices and not the lowest prices. The actual cost of gas/electricity has gone back to normal levels but now because of hedging consumers will pay this extortionate hedged prices for years :-/ See this letter I just got from my gas/electricity supplier. I live alone in 1050sq/ft 3-bed duplex house... this is how prices are going up for me now... And my tracker mortgage was always about 2.2%... now going up 0.5% every month... latest letter from bank its now at 5.0% - increase of about €250 a month since last summer.

Would be interested to know how much cheaper a similar house is costing now in USA compared to this in EU

LOL, console gamers who gladly buy from scalpers, who will do it again next time too?
False equivalence. Who cares if someone bought a console from scalpers during peak COVID shortage. Console prices are now back to normal, where as GPU prices are still 2x of what they were.

LMAO you are buying 2 year old hardwares for higher prices than they originally launched with, what great intelligence console peasants have. Are rx6000/rtx3000 selling for higher than their original MSRP? 🙄

This could be a separate discussion who is more intelligent. One who spends 500 to play a video game, or one who spends 3000+ to play the same game 😀

same game, but with higher level of enjoyment/experience. It's like a steak being cooked by a newbie vs an experienced chef, are they the same?

MSRP is a American thing only.

I played some games on my PC and Xbox Series S, some of them I had on both platforms (Forza Horizon 5, Plague Tale Requiem, Chorus), save games synchronize between both platforms, in the end I had enjoiment on both platforms. The Xbox was 200€ new in promotion, is a little console that is easy to travel with, I dont care about my laptop anymore. PC is better of corse, I see the Xbox as a complement, but is a gret cheap console to enjoy some nice games too. About my GPU, RTX3060, I bought it when I secured a nice deal to sell my GTX 1060 at a good price, in the correct time, is possible to make some good deals. Nowadays selling Pascal GPUs is more harder because the second hand mared it full of them. A friend of mine bought a RTX 3070 in second hand for 350€, MSI Gaming Z trio, and that GPU is in very good shape, we already made all the necessary tests. With the necessary patience, you can find some nice deals, both PC or consoles.

I bought a couple GPUs from Germany and after tax refund they are pretty close to American MSRP (American MSRP are without tax included of course)

Well, we shall see how this turns out. Chances are, prices drop, but never again to the levels we had before...
Don't forget inflation. I think it depends on your definition of prices dropping. Across the board, all products will get more expensive, but they're also getting more capable. Even a RX 6500 is better than my ancient R9 290, and despite being overpriced, the 6500 costs almost half what I paid for my 290. I've basically been waiting for 4K@60FPS to trickle its way down to lower performance tiers. The good thing is it has, but the bad thing is the lower tiers have gone up in price faster than performance has been improving. So, right now I'm basically waiting for the RX 7700[X] to be released, either in the hopes that it's a decent price or that it'll lower the price of last-gen GPUs.

This sounds really strange to me. here in The Netherlands people can only get a tax reduction when they own a company, and they buy the video card related to their business. Normal consumers have to pay the full price. so tax included.

Ok so you are in a special situation , so not a normal consumer.

Possibly TaxFree. But you can lose some of the warranty conditions, or you have to mail the product to the original country if needed.

Yeah it allowed me to grab PC stuff at MSRP, or close to it anyways. Not anymore though 😛

I could always go back and ask for warranty, but all my GPUs still work splendidly.

For the price of a Playstation 5 (with one game) you probably wont be able to buy a 4060 so it being 2 years old hardware doesn't matter much.

I would rather take a hike, it's free and I would have more fun than playing games on PS5

Glottiz:

This is only happening because PC gaming is a very strange niche. PC gamers pretend be "tough and intelligent who will never accept any BS" but actually are the most obedient group of gamers. So ironically in this regard console gamers are actually much more unified and any time console makers try to pull some BS they are met with massive backlash.
I think this due to generational change. PC gamers today are very different from gamers of old when things were earned not granted.

imagine being a banker, you bankrupt everyone and they end up fighting each other over who's greedy when prices go up like this and you can't point to an event like a fire/flood/accident, it means your money went down faster than usual tech progress can't keep up with made up numbers

I would rather have some interesting posts to read on this forum, but instead we have middle aged men act like kiddies.

I think this is a little misleading because there are no direct comparisons between similar cards. I think what`s happening is that the percentage of higher end cards being sold has increased while the percentage of sales of lower end cards has decreased, this automatically leads to much higher medium price points than before. This is also happening with other induestries, like cars. We all know that cards are more expensive than before but this research proves little. On a related nore, i`ve just read on a portuguese tech site that Nvidia is going to cut the production of the 4090 to bolster the sales of the 4080 because apparently the sales of the latter are very poor...
