I love how none of the usual issues of Windows is present if you use LTSC. NONE. And people keep asking why we use it...
That's the only "sane" Windows one can use. All of our POS are running LTSC, I was adamant to have those specific POS and now it pays off, more than I realized. Basically, a non intrusive OS and lets user use the computer without the BS.

That's the reason why I think they don't even want it to go around (LTSC in it's latest iteration), because people wouldn't even put up with any other windows version if one could buy a license. The insult is, you pay for an OS and still get shown ads... I'd understand if windows was freeware and it shows you ads to make up for it, or if you get a cheaper version that has to make up for what you didn't pay in any way, but consider this: M$ wants a customer, a private person, to pay literally 100€+ for their OS, and they still bug you regularly. That's just bad behavior. And they sure as hell know why this prompt doesn't go via the usual channels which you could block or work around... they're testing the waters if this one gets shut down by 3rd party programs as well. At least that's my opinion. Now excuse me, I have to see if I can find an up to date version of the real, slick windows somewhere for my next build, or if I have to suffer through all of it again with a win11 pro verison.

I concur @fantaskarsef . But very few, very few of us really take the problem in their hands and reach to a conclusion, decide and stick to that decision. Not using Windows on personal computers, nowadays is more feasible than before.

Honestly, it is technically, but the issue with many things, is time. Unless the time to set up windows and it's alternatives (arguably just Linux) is the same, I personally would not want to go another way. I do plan to dual-install on my next rig though and see for myself how Linux works for me, but neither do I want to spend literally dozens of hours to set it up properly, nor do I have the time to do it. My hobby time is as limited as it gets and there's trade offs you have to take as working guy.

I respect that. Time is a very valuable resource.

If you want a normal computer, with usual stuff, you'll not spend more time configurating it in Linux, compared to Windows. Just plan ahead, and have it done.

Like I said, I'm really happy that the switch to linux thread was created, where I can hang on to and have a path to walk down to see where it leads me, since the last time I wanted to try Linux as an alternative (that was about 10 or more years ago), I simply found it discouraging that you don't easily find your way around to "use it". These days the situation seems to be a lot better. But working 60 hours a week, with 2-3 24h shifts a week, it's hard to see why I should spend another day to set up one OS over using the time to game on the other. BUT THE THREAD IS AWESOME!
