Linux better start working on compatibility for 90s games then!

Just no.

I am waiting for the AI version.

No more Windows only hardware for me, the transition to Linux is afoot.
I wont run a webcam that has an online login to start recording, who knows what that server receives, not a chance my personal OS isnt going to be mine to control.
And too much gathering + misuse of personal information and fuckery with my OS setup...
No thanks.

Good ol Micro$oft, nothing they do surprises me at this point. Wonder if they realize, that not all users use their devices with an internet connection.

If that happens then i will go down the pirate route for my os

Please no.

Lol this will never happen. Tons of devs would leak the few closed source winapi source code to the wild than xD

These companies are unbelievable! Just closing the walls in on us. Its too bad someone like Valve doesn't come out with their own operating system. Linux is just too cumbersome for most. The day after windows 12 comes out... Sorry, we are discontinuing support for windows 11.. We just got used to windows 11, We know, enjoy windows 12.. Enjoy all the tracking we do, and all the info we collect from you and sell to 3rd parties. Don't worry, Windows 12 is free.. 🙁

SteamOS.
No comments on the W11 or W12.
Valve has its own OS, it's called anticupidon
That aligns to perfection to the You will own nothing and be happy statement.
But wait, there's more.
Each user will be under heavy data collection, social score and the computer will be own by the OS.
Sorry guys, Linux may seem difficult or uninviting, but user has the control over both hardware and software.
But by each passing day, new advances are made in the user space, games compatibility and UX/UI across the board.
Heck, when I started my journey back in 2008 with Ubuntu, that thing was ugly and lacked soo many things. But I've stuck to my guns and nowadays, modern Linux desktops are a far cry from the past.

no thanks cloud based OS? gtfo
I cant help but think they want to to subcribe to OS just to use our pc's, I think if they go that root it will be ammo for lot people to just switch to linux.
anticupidon
@to all.
The sooner you'll start to try, use, learn, hate and love Linux (or whatever OS who put the user in the first place), the better and easier for you.

Gladly I'm getting older now, to where I don't really use my PC for anything other than watching stuff... So I don't care to switch to something that isn't pay-per-month/year, which I'm sure is what Microsoft will want to transition to.

I could deal with a subscription... but atleast allow me to tweak my OS if needed.
Cloud OS can get sucked into a black hole.

If this happens, I will switch to Linux. That would stop me from playing future Elder Scrolls, as those will be MS games as well and thus definitely only available for the subscription Windows (on PC), but then so be it.
Still, it would be kind of funny to see how it could ever turn out for MS. In the end it was falling for MS's trap, albeit willingly, that killed Nokia's whole phone business, so interestingly enough MS, despite being a giant multi-billion business, has quite a history of costly mistakes. I hope this plan isn't the final one, nevertheless, even if it requires MS to maintain two separate lines of client Windows versions: one local and one streaming (screaming) cloud.

I threw up a little in the back of my throat.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, it's off to Linux we all go.
Is Microsoft out to self destruct? First not staying at Windows 10 after saying it would be the "last windows" then pushing Windows 11 with all it's spyware onto everyone and now saying we are all going to be cloud computing.. that's a big yeah nah from me, Windows xx will become a 2ndry operating system - if that and I will be running Linux 99.5% of the time.
My question is what happens to your ability to compute if someone forgets a ; on a top level domain server, or the internet goes down for some other reason.... you are screwed is what.

Let me remind you what was the alternative to those who didn't comply with Dr. Raymond Cocteau rules in the 1993 movie "Demolition Man".
When that time comes and Microsoft's "long term vision" becomes short term ,Linux wont be an option 🙂
Watch the movie by the way ,for an action-comedy its quite eye opening and prophetic !

Great...
