What a mess. I can already see the future where we dont use windows anymore.

Users of old hardware rejoice! You can use your PC safe in the knowledge that the next time you turn it on, Microsoft wont have broken it.

For some this is kind of a selling point.

Dumb. For those with old HW, why would anyone with half a mind choose to upgrade a fully functional OS to one that does not update? I am sure there will be a few that do, and presumably security updates will continue, just other updates wont.

I do feel like we just need a surge in WINE or Proton development, to the point that it's seamless running Windows software on Linux. At that point, we have backwards compatibility and can move forward with everything Linux based.

Cant wait to see W11 adoption rates a year from now. Should be embarrassing for MS. The tech media will tear them a new one over this. 😀

Same was said 10 years ago, yet here we are.

Or perhaps the even funnier situation.... high adoption rate but people can't update because "unsupported" hardware.

I have no doubt whatsoever in the future availabilty of 'hacked' copies of win 11 that will either bypass this TPM 2 requirement or 'spoof' it's presence.

I can already see users trying to find a method to get this feature on supported PCs as well.

If you can bypass the TPM 2.0 requirement, I am pretty sure it will be possible to get updates manually and bypass the requirements again. On the good side, no need to get huge amounts of W11 updates all the time, unless there are major bugs that make the system unstable or something.

I wonder if turning TPM off in the BIOS would do the trick?

Thats not what the message says at all. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/292727720876703744/890552360080924682/unknown.png Theres a difference between "not entitled to" and "won't receive"

I really cant understand the logic of excluding Ryzen 1xxx but including the 2xxx processors, ZEN and ZEN+ are functionally the same

P.O.N.:

...so Win11 on old HW will get updated?
you can always force deploy msus and cabinets

14nm vs 12nm and some ipc increase on zen+ but yeah basically the same. Funny thing is that 1600af isnt supported and 2600 is.

probably windows 11 will start with slow adoption rates, but it will catch up (maybe in some years), w11 will probably work better on those new kind of bigLITTLE CPUs because of the core changes microsoft have implemented to support those changes in architecture.

Running Zorin OS16 on a separate SSD, have been for a couple of weeks now and it's not bad, quite an eye opener. Using Windows 10 for support only.
