YMMV, but Windows 10 has been better on all my PCs than Win7, going as far back as Geforce 8/AMD HD 4000 series and Core 2 Quad. And you can apparently still use the Win7 upgrade path for Windows 10.
It's not just about DX12 and whatever other improvements Win10 has under the hood either, the Battlefield games showed a big performance gain already with Win8 and its DX11.1 support. And the Spectre tests for Windows 7 shows a huge disadvantage compared to before.
I do understand why people with old PCs are hesitant to upgrade though, but anyone who has relatively modern hardware and still plays modern games on Windows 7 is doing oneself a huge disservice
