They can force all they want, but i wont be getting Win 10 untill next year.
I'm still using Norton Ghost 15, so i can't even Upgrade as that only works on Win 7.

2nd time now.
It downloads just fine, goes through the checks, asks me to read the licence agreement etc, goes to the dark blue screen for installation, gets to about 50% and then the above pops up.
Anyone else?

Looks like they've made some changes to the forced update stuff now, at least from the driver angle

I will wait and see how you all get on with this, no way i want to have to download 2tb of steam games again if it all goes pear shaped.

Small update, I just upgraded the main VGA test rig. No problems thus far. All installed applications are still there. After installing the graphics card driver the control panel is back. Running some GFX benchmarks to see if everything is properly working.
But yeah, at least on this end all seems fine, and to the above post that includes Steam, Origin and Gog installs.

The more machines I install this on, the buggier I realize it is.

For those that wonder. Graphics perf seems about 99.98% the same.
Example: GTX 980 Ti does 100 points more in the overall P scores opposed to Windows 8.1.

Great...4th attempt at this, and now it seems the original 40MBPS download speed has dropped to a pathetic 1.7 and is likely to take 92 quadrillion hours to install.
And when it does - I bet it fails again...for no reason with no error code at all.

Do they give you a key when you install or how does it work if you want to reformat and reinstall?

So if thats the case what happens if I upgrade some part of my computer?
I used to simply call microsoft with the installation ID, is it gonna be the same?

Also I don't think you need a newer GPU to get the most important aspect of DX12 i.e. the cpu stuff, but don't quote me on that.
That's pretty subjective, you're going to have to do your own research on what features there are and decide whether you want to get a free OS or not.
Here's a decent video which goes over most of the basic usability and some feature stuff

I was going to update my win 8.1 office pc but as it is due a hardware upgrade I am going to wait as purchasing a new OS is not going to happen
