Don't make that yet another I-won't-buy-it thread. Prices over here (converted to USD): ~ $110 for Win8 OEM ~ $160 for Win8 Pro OEM ~ $70 for Win8 Pro Upgrade ~ $25 for Win7->Win8 for recently bought laptops

I've yet to see a reason to get it over Win 7. Seen a few reasons not to tho.

Going to get it at some point, not sure if it's at this year or at the next one. Planning to buy some 120gb SSD and put OS to it, when that happens I dont know, perhaps at xmas. Reasons why to get it ? Well, why not ? I do like the new My computer, desktop seems nice, those tiles at that Metro UI surely will get some use at point and it's actually good to see new UI which according to those who have bothered to try it for few days is good and works. Picture of that my computer because I think we all have seen what the MEtro UI looks like (or what the hell it's called? I think they changed the name to something else?) http://computelogy.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Windows-8-My-Computer-View-1.jpg

Mine should arrive today. Already ran the Upgrade Assistant and there appear to be no issues.

If you think they're going to change the Interface back in Win9 I guess you'll be on Windows7 for a long time to come lol Anyhow, not sure I'm going to be buying it, quite contempt with Win7 for now, perhaps next year when I get my second SSD for RAID I may get it as I'd have to install an OS from scratch anyway.

So Win 8 is out today, didn't know that, really I care so little I couldn't even be bothered finding out when it's released, big change from when I built a new rig all ready for the day Win 7 came out!

im too lazy for installing it now...

Had my copy for a while. Finally got a chance to install it today. Really good so far. Things have moved and there is a lot of new interface, but it is clean and tidy. Really fast OS.

Actually, that's three letters. 🤓 And yeah, I see no reason to upgrade right now.
But, they are actually 3 words. Laughing Out Loud. :P And, I agree.

Not sure what the point of the image is but that desktop is horrendous, it just seems the whole 'tile' thing is dedicated to taking up desktop real estate to inform the user of the mundane, pointless and terminally uninteresting.

I'm getting a copy from Microcenter later today since they have it for a mere $38.88 ($30+ cheaper than most places). The only reason I'm getting it is to have a cheap upgrade for an old XP license. Also, for anyone that works on computers all the time, it's pretty important to know the OS inside out, whether you like it yourself or not. 😛

OEM is the full version. It behaves as the retail one did on previous versions.

It is impossible to believe that some of you guys consider your self's computer "experts". Dual booting must be something you all have not heard of but hey, your loss. Me, I have it now installed on my tablet and dual booting it on my laptop at work. I will eventually put in on my desktop but, Dataplex does not yet support it and I would need to purchase new bluray playback software.

Why buy W8 and dual boot next to W7? What benefit could that possibly give?
Because, this is my work machine and I see no reason to wipe out my 1.5 year old Windows 7 installation. I have 2 Seagate hybrid hard drives installed and each OS installed on individual drives. If one drive dies or an OS gets corrupted, I can still use the other.

I'm kinda lost here. If i'm building a new PC by myself and want to buy a full copy of Windows 8 pro (not upgrade) what am i supposed to do ? Buy an OEM license ???

Yep, $99 for regular $139 for pro.
All of the agreements are written in plain language that’s surprisingly easy to understand, and Windows 8 will, for the first time ever, include a new Personal Use License that explicitly permits retail customers to install and run OEM System Builder software.
