It sounds like this was a buyout so the other co-founder could retire, either way - nice to know they are still around. It seems they found their niche in doing obscure video and enterprise AV solutions after they backed out of consumer graphics / when the Parhelia flopped.

I once had a rig with a Matrox G400 and 2 12MB 3dfx Voodoo cards in SLI. That box was it way back when. Now I have to settle for a single Nvidia 2080Ti.

LOL that was literally my first thought "They were still around?". Man the video card industry desperately needs some new blood.

Matrox's Millennium and Mystique were the last iterations of 2D cards with "limited 3D capabilities", just before NVidia and ATI burst on the scene... Those of us who could not afford them, had to contend themselves with cards based on Trident's and S3's chips ...

Hopefully Intel can really add something to the graphics industry. I’ve really been hoping AMD would compete at the enthusiast level. It’s my reason I have the 2080Ti as there’s not really anything else at this performance level. I had the Matrox Millennium 2mb card back in the day with the add on 6mb ram. Was a very cool card.

At least a 2080 Ti can deliver near 140 fps in most things with a few settings tweaked at least. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place, with a 1080 Ti that has an AIO on it, the only real upgrade is a 2080 Ti. Not exactly a reasonably priced item considering the literal monopoly.

Yeah the price is a real killer. The performance is damn nice though.

I wonder why Intel hasn't stepped up sooner and spice up the GPU market? Poor AMD they compete with everyone.

Back in the Larrabee development days a top end consumer card was $499, now it's over $999...
