Yes, most likely. Datacenters don't typically handle such a wide variety of complex calculations as games do, and they're more concerned about performance per watt than minimizing latency.

The article listed quite a few applications, among them cloud gaming. At least with cloud gaming every game can be verified separately and then either adopted or rejected based on the results.
