5k display paired with a Radeon with 2gb of video ram?

The one market Apple knows probably better than anyone is the sucker market--the no-knowledge, but money-to-burn crowd. Why anyone with a dollop of sense would buy a "5k" iMac is beyond me utterly...;) What a waste of money!

The i7 model uses the 4790K, FYI

I'am dead serious. Who would right in their mind pay such massive amount of money for that overpriced crap? I can get a 28'' 4k display for 460 euro right now.
Someone who wants a 5K screen and integrated computer? Dell sells just the screen for $2500, so I fail to see how this is overpriced.

Are you serious? Other 5k monitors are $2500 with no hardware in them at all.

outrageous pricing for "other" 5k monitors is only temporary (apple probably bought a massive stock of panels from LG at good deal). to see how stupid apple prices really are we can start by comparing apple thunderbolt 1440p display at insane 999$ price and compare that to other, much better quality 1440p displays at much better price. and to people who buy this imac all i gotta say is enjoy your lag. mobile gpu paired with a 5K monitor, oh yeah that's gonna work out just fine 😀

What monitor compares? I don't even think there is any other monitors with those specs. Hazro is the only other company I know of that sells something similar with a ambient light sensor and whatnot. Also most people that buy these macs use it for desktop/office stuff, not gaming or professional work. So I guess they won't enjoy their lag?
I beg to differ. Everyone I know who is proficient with computers games on it. And they must not be smart enough to know there is cheaper better alternatives to apple products.
Everyone I know doesn't game on it. Boom.
I'm scratching my head and wondering why people in this forum seem to believe this product is aimed at gamers. This might come as a bit of a shock to some of you, but the majority of PC users don't play games. The Apple hate is a bit ridiculous also, I've literally just read a comment where someone claims Apple is worse than other companies delivering 5K monitors because they're doing it for the same price with hardware included. I'm not keen on Apple products because I don't personally have a use for them, but a lot of people do. We're not just talking about trend setting either, there's a lot of professional users out there that have very good reasons for using MAC's.
It's the same crap with Windows 8 and mobile computing, etc. 99% of people on here can't see a use past what they typically do on their computer or what they use their device for. Everyone is "too dumb" or some other nonsense crap.
data/avatar/default/avatar18.webp
Wow, I mean who would pay money for this overpriced crap, for 2500 $ I can assemble an enthusiast end PC along with all the peripherals and a 144hz Gsync monitor.
...People who actually need as much resolution / pixel density as they can get on a desktop monitor? Two totally different markets... Let's think outside the box for a bit these upcoming years.

To be blunt, you're an idiot. Considering 5K monitors ALONE cost more than the 5k iMac... Right..

I can't think of *one* good reason a "professional" would buy an iMac at all--unless he knows nothing about available x86 hardware--and in that case I would not call him a "professional" because a professional would make it his business to know hardware well enough to be able to buy it on his own without resort to either Dell or Apple, frankly. And please--when people criticize something Apple makes it really sounds so immature to talk about "hating"--it's just good, solid, justifiable criticism. Criticism has always been hard for Apple to take, for some reason, thus the childish "hater" name-calling to ridiculously try and shame people into keeping their mouths shut. I think it's very silly. (I'm almost as critical of Microsoft when I think it's warranted.) And please--"5k" is at the moment just a marketing gimmick--"4k" monitors are available without the tiny little surface-mount *motherboard* stuffed inside the monitor enclosure--for $800 in the US and soon they'll be even lower-priced I've no doubt. Why on *earth* would I want my hardware inside that tiny little enclosure--which obviously isn't designed to let me upgrade my hardware? Completely inferior design, imo--great for Apple's bottom line--sucks for the customer's bottom line, though. But like I say, you have to be a bit knowledgeable to understand that; or, you can remain a faux "professional" and continue to be a docile and obedient Apple customer. I've disliked one-piece designs since they originated in the 1980's (and they weren't Macs, either.) Most "professionals" eschew one-piece case designs because...what happens to your computer if you have to take your monitor in for repair...or what happens to your monitor if you have to take your computer in for service? And that's besides all of the problems with upgrading the hardware and so forth. And let's not even talk about factory warranty durations...Apple is way down on the curve there, too.

Dude the people buying an iMac don't give a crap about 99% of that stuff you just said. They want a good looking system for their office computer and that's about it. You think an accountant or an HR person or anyone not in the tech industry is going to care about whether their computer is well ventilated or whether or not it's going to be easy to upgrade? Like what bubble do you people live in where this happens? Where everyone is well versed in technology and actually gives a **** about their computer? I need to move there, it would make my job a lot easier. The vast majority of people I know and deal with on a daily basis just want something that works. If it looks good that's a plus.
It reminds me of that thread where people were asked to rate their computer knowledge, remember that?
No, but probably because I read the thread title and knew how upset I would get if I opened it.

That's because you're in denial and also blind and special both at the same time. Thanks for the offensive words, much appreciated and also reported. How many 5k monitors are in the market? 1 or 2? Stop acting silly and being a iIdiot.
Lol. The trolling is real. If there is only one or two 5K monitors on the market how can you possibly make a statement about how overpriced it is? What is the cost of a sharp IGZO monitor @ 5K? The 4K ones are all around $1600. The only thing you have to compare it with is the other 5K by Dell, which is priced identically to this except it doesn't come with an entire computer attached to it. And no, don't go compare it to a non-IPS or a ****-tier panel with uniformity worse then garbage, because that's literally the only thing you're going to find at 450 Euros.

Amusing, lets get back on track.

As much as I despise Apple hardware. I know for a fact that some of the best software such as that used in music production is made/optimised for Apple OS. Why has this thread lowered into a name slinging fight? People dont usually buy Apple Mac etc for gaming. Why do people always revert everything to games...

I totally agree with you here. Although my nephew is going to high school soon and I went with him to look around the school (which I went to myself around 10 years ago now since I left) and they have kitted the school out with brand new iMac's!! I was a little taken back, and I asked the teacher showing us around why do you have mac? and his reply was astonishing. He said and I quote "oh we have those because they cool now". Not, because they are better than PC's, not because they are easier to use, or because they are used more for design like photo and video editing. But because they are cool. If that is the motto or schools these days god help the children in them because once they leave school and are accustomed to iOS and Mac's and they get a job where some company still uses Windows 7 or Windows 8 (we are talking about ten years from now and we all know how it takes companies to upgrade their OS). The kids are going to be stumped and have no idea what they are doing. A little off topic but still I was completely amazed by his response. Not the fact that it will help the child but because it looks cool and the "in" product now.

There's a lot of victim playing on this forum of late by newer members, who more often than not are the ones making the attacks and flinging the insults to begin with. You're part of an elite group, congratulations! I'm not going to bother addressing the rest of your post, it clearly relates to something I've already mentioned in a response to Denial. You have a good day now!
*heh* You, too...;) That's what I think I've enjoyed most about Apple fans over the years--if you don't tow the party line then it's only because you're in an "elite" group--and of course today no one wants to be "elite"--just dumb as a bag of rocks... 🤓 It's not a matter of being "elite"...it's simply a matter of having enough sense as a consumer to want to know what's *inside* the tech products you buy. That's all--it's not hard to understand. You either do or you don't, you're either "edumacated" or else you are little more than a bumpkin who fell off the tech tomato truck yesterday. There's no getting around the fact that the person who buys an Apple personal computing product is in effect forfeiting his right to pick and choose his own hardware and surrendering that privilege to Apple. Completely. Instead of you as a consumer making your own informed, intelligent choices, you simply take what Apple decides to give you and call it a day. Thus, the well-earned nickname "sheeple," etc. Take the front page of Guru3d.com, for instance--here is a site that has been dedicated for years to educating its readership with good, solid, wholesome component information. Lots of good reviews here, constituting thousands of hours of work and effort across the years, for the express purpose of enlightening its readership. I think my main point is that if you choose to remain ignorant inside "Apple land" you're making a conscious choice to do that because you don't have to be ignorant. The Internet today is chock full of good product information just waiting for any consumer who cares enough to seek it out. Sure, I realize that not everyone cares enough to learn about what he's buying when it comes to tech. But, hey...that's your penultimate iPhone customer, isn't it? A cell phone is probably all that consumer needs, anyway.

What's "good looking"...? That's really funny--but I agree with you completely that skin-deep is about as deep as most Mac customers ever go. There's definitely a niche market for "good looking" office furniture. Most people in the business-related tech market, though, are looking for bang-for-the-buck as opposed to "good looking." And if you find any accountants looking for "5k" one-piece iMacs, I'd love to hear about it...;)
You think an accountant or an HR person or anyone not in the tech industry is going to care about whether their computer is well ventilated or whether or not it's going to be easy to upgrade?
Uh, so you don't think accountants or HR persons are interested in saving money? Interesting...
Like what bubble do you people live in where this happens? Where everyone is well versed in technology and actually gives a **** about their computer?
Uh, like the IT bubble in corporations? But, you probably didn't think about that did you? (Apple isn't even competitive in that giant market.)
I need to move there, it would make my job a lot easier. The vast majority of people I know and deal with on a daily basis just want something that works. If it looks good that's a plus. No, but probably because I read the thread title and knew how upset I would get if I opened it.
Why are you upset? I think it's funny, myself...;) All through the years it's almost insane (to coin a Jobsian phrase) to think about the number of people who confuse "good looking" with efficiency, and just pour out of the woodwork the moment anyone utters anything critical of an Apple product. Take this thread, for instance...I simply pointed out why I didn't think a one-piece iMac is a "good deal" or something I would ever want to buy...and almost every response in the argumentative has been emotional--not a one of the points I raised initially, addressed or answered. It seems you cannot even legitimately make fair points about such Apple products without stepping on some sacred cows. If anyone thinks that an iMac is above criticism...well, that's just insane...;) Seriously, why even have a product thread if you cannot discuss things rationally? Why is, "Man, that product is great...drool!" supposedly the only allowable commentary? HH doesn't write his reviews that way or he'd have been gone years ago...;) I can't see anything at all wrong with describing why it is that you dislike a particular product--there are plenty of non-Apple products I criticize, too. Seems perfectly on point in a product thread.

Because it isn't rational. Your initial comment criticized apple/people buying apple stuff on the basis that everyone in the entire world has the same passion for technology as the people on this forum and that they should care/put in effort to do research about it. I'd say the vast majority of people won't put in the effort. They'll buy a Dell. Then a smaller minority don't care, they'll buy an Apple device. Then an even smaller minority care and will put in effort, they'll build their own rig. And you've obviously never worked in a large business if you think accountants and HR people care about money. The financial division of my company had 26 people in it and 14 of them are using Apple products.

You can't be serious, surely....wow, I mean there are literally no words to desribe your absolutely childish behaviour, if you see that statement as "mud-slinging" attempt and bait tactic, then you need to find some professional help I reckon. Also whats up with me being a cry wolf, I wasn't called out, I was only insulted multiple times, why are you so incredibly stuck up? Can't you see the fundamental problem that lies in your absolutely pathetic arguments? Anway what agenda are you even talking about? You seem pretty confident about everything you say as if it is some home made law you're preaching here or something. It's more or less a tad bit ridiculous to say the least.
Dude just go back to 4chan, you're a troll who keeps on digging that already enormous hole you've got yourself into. Will clear these forums up nicely when i see Banned under your name.

Nobody likes trolls, which i see you doing in just about every thread i read, and as usual you pull the victim card saying the same old story "Everyone attacking me".
