Thanks, but I already have the GoG GOTY Edition. Nevertheless, Bethesda tries to get some karma points back. Not a bad move, just keep doing good deeds. Just like in RPG games Oh, wait Bethesda makes them.

Believe i have it on CD somewhere which came with my 8800 GTX i think.
Must have been with one of your older cards. Much older. Because unless my memory is FUBAR, it came with my MSI GeForce 4 Ti 4200. Edit: Yep, Elder Scrolls 3 and the GeForce 4 line are both from 2002.

This was the game that forced me to build a proper PC for the first time. No more slapping a video card (and PSU) into a Dell. I have ESO. Not installed. Is that the same launcher? This seems different. edit - I'm too late anyways....

On a mechanical level, Morrowind is far ahead most of the modern titles. The amount of calculations and factors that go into any action you make is phenomenal. Yes, it looks silly at times with you and enemy swinging at one another for 20 mins, but you level up skills it turns into a fantastic experience. Visuals wise, there are plenty of mods that enhance the graphics to an insane degree.
I don't think combats were silly. It's a rpg. You're weak at first. Perfectly normal. It made the combats boring at first but it was fine. I think what made the game silly was the awful npc ai. I remember after entering the first city for fun i attacked a villager. I had an armour and a big axe. The villager had nothing. I expected the villager to run to the guards but nope she started attacking me with her fists and did not bother calling the guards since none was around at that time. I was like WTF. Luckily there was good mods to improve the npc ai. The mods to improve the face of npc was pretty much a must too lol

That's a good example of self-defence. 😉 And you may have misunderstood me, I don't think combat is silly mechanic wise, it just looks silly at the start. Other than that all of the mechanics in the game make perfect sense to me. I prefer old game mechanics over modern ones at any time.

I had to install the Bethesda Launcher for the first time to pick up this free game. That said, I have no issues with that since it is easy to organize the launchers on my Full Screen Start Menu in Windows 10. 🙂 I have 8 including the Xbox app and the Games for Windows Live program.

For those not wanting to install the Bethesda Launcher, you DON'T have to install it. Just make a Bethesda account and you can claim it there. Ofc you need the launcher to install and play it. I would recommend OpenMW (0.45.0 just released a few days ago), it will transform MW to some more modern standards, like widescreen support, controller support etc... https://openmw.org/en/

MGE EX + MCP + MPP seems more legit, especially if you want other third party additions.

Not even this is going to persuade to install "Bethesda Launcher".
After installed, you can launch the game directly from the installation root path and forget the Bethesda launcher.
