Waayyy too expensive for a barebones phone without the aftermarket goodies the other manufacturers add. The only reason the Nexus series were attractive vs. their competition were the price points, the hardware always just barely matched the high end phones around release. Take away the price point, and there is little reason to recommend this over a good LG or Samsung.
Idk from the way I look at it Google is giving me $150 to not use Touchwiz on the Note 4. I consider that a big plus.

Agreed, for me part of the reason for buying Nexus was the lack of all The crap out that came with other devices lol Anyway, been waiting ages for the N9 so buying that and giving the N7 2012 to the gf. Going to keep my N5 as quite happy with it, and to be honest can't afford to buy both otherwise I probably would lol

Quite happy with my Nexus 5 still. With Lollipop 5.0 just a couple of days away, happy days.

the 6 is way too big for my liking, but it does look like a great phone. I think i will get the Nexus 9, Though i wonder if it streams pc games like the nvidia shield considering it has the updated CPU/GPU. That would be the icing on the cake for me.

I bought my N4 and N5 strictly because they lacked all the manufacturer and carrier installed bloatware. Prices for the phones were never a real concern, but were a bonus. If there won't be a Nexus phone with a reasonable screen size (4.5-5.0"), then I've no reason to buy one. For me, 5.9" is just too large for a phone and too small for a tablet.

Wow... I was anticipating the Nexus 6 as my new smartphone, still running around with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro... but well, too expensive, useless resolution (which always sips away battery power), and a insane price of 650$... sorry, they totally lost it imo. Gonna go and see for a Samsung then... I was so looking forward to not have to deal with those stupid aftermarket 3rd party layouts and preinstalled apps I don't need, but I'm not going to pay hundreds of quid just for that. For me and my personal situation, I feel they failed.

I have to say you're probably the ONLY person i've ever seen who actually seems to LIKE paying more for OEM fluff. As for everything else... well... look at it this way. In the case of the Nexus 5, you basically got a LG G2 with a lower MP camera (both front and rear), smaller battery, among some other things, for a fair bit less than the cost of a G2 off-contract. Now we have the Nexus 6. People seem to be comparing it to the Moto X all over the place (since it's the same manufacturer), but in actuality, the Nexus 6 is more similar in specs to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 than it is to the Moto X.... the only differences being the Nexus 6 has a slightly larger screen (same resolution), while the Note 4 has a bit higher MP count on both the front and rear facing cameras, as well as Micro-SD support. So yea.... if you're looking at it from the standpoint that you're getting a bit of an upgrade on the Moto X (2014) for $150 more, then yea, it seems a little absurd. But considering you're essentially getting something that's damn-near identical to the Galaxy Note 4 in terms of specifications, for about $175 less than the Note 4's off-contract price, it actually seems like it's still quite a nicely priced phone/"phablet" based on the specs.

everybody's complaining about the price and i understand that. considering i was going to upgrade both my 5 and 7, it all rounds out in my situation. im just going to close my eyes and shut off my opinion and get the 6. 😏not happy about the lack of sd though.
If you don't need the latest Nexus goodies in terms of software, Note 4 has pretty much similar specs.
The difference in price by me between the G2 and the N5 was around $60 USD, which made the G2 a no-brainer. The difference between the N6 and Note 4 is around $150. But for that money, you actually get a usable phablet in the Note 4; with multi-screen software, a stylus, an SD slot, a better camera (and camera software), etc.
Over here, Note prices used to plummet soon after release. On the release date, Note 3 was around $930 in Poland (converted to USD at that day's exchange rate), and I got mine for around $570 in December, which was pretty soon after the release (brand new, unpacked, invoice etc). It may be similar case with Note 4. I'm not going to replace 3 for 4, as it's just too good, but if one's looking for a good big phone, Note 4 is definitely one of the best options if you don't need Nexus branding. Also, LG G3 may be an interesting "budget" alternative.

Huh My comment got deleted! Anyway's nexus 6 will be my next phone I love my current nexus 4 and it's awesome that its officially getting lolipop! but after using phones like the LG G3 and the galaxy note 3 I'm really itching for a bigger screen.

I'm looking forward to the Nexus 9. Question. Will existing apps and games still be compatible with the Nexus 9 even though it's a different chipset?

Yes, most apps are already 64bit compatible and quite a few are native 64bit.

Good to know! I was worried that some things would not work any more as they were written based on different CPU/GPU.

Stock android all the way, been waiting for this tablet. More pricey than I'd have hoped for, but I suppose the spec is pretty top notch. Samsung make nice hardware, but I hate TouchWiz. Motorola did a really good job with their software, very minimalistic.
That's why I run Nova Launcher - it does the job without irritating me. Still, I'd like to change the settings menus to stock Android.

.... "Usable" phablet? Multi screen..... seems like more of gimmick to me than anything. I mean.... it's only a 6" screen. Only really seems like a reasonable thing to use if you're doing the whole thing copying something from say Google Chrome into a note you're taking. Stylus.... not really necessary either. My girlfriend has the Note 3, and I've only really ever seen her use the stylus around me maybe twice. The touch accuracy is nice... but to be honest I'd be perfectly fine with a cheapy Amazon stylus for how little it would ever get used. SD card slot.... another one of those things i'm fine without. Yes, the expandable storage is nice... but i've been going for the past year with a 16GB Nexus 5, and never ran out of storage. Not really any benefit to it unless you're the type to carry a music library around with you.... which i never really saw the point to doing on a phone. Already have a plethora of music on an SD card for my car, and was never the type to have a personal soundtrack for walking around. And should i need extra storage... well... that's what my 64GB USB-OTG thumb drive is for. Yea, it's not concealed nicely in the back cover, but it's still incredibly tiny. As for the camera, yes, it's a slightly higher MP camera on both the front and the back. Yes, Samsung's camera app has some extra little picture modes for random crap you'd probably almost never use. The only thing that interests me in the Note 4's camera ability is the high-speed video recording ability. HOPING something like that makes it to the Nexus 6. If not... oh well. It's still one of those things that even if i had it, would still probably never really have any reason to use it. To be honest... i'd rather save the $175.

Meh, like my OnePlus more... CyanogenMod FTW !
And? Cyanogen will most likely hit the Nexus 6 with their first release of a Lollipop build. Vajoiner: Could always do what I did with my Nexus 5... buy a USB-OTG flash drive.

Well, it's nearly decided for me. I'd rather buy the Nexus5 than the N6, for half the price. I don't need the resolution, and N5 will get the lollipop update too.

There are 3rd party camera apps available, that are likely to be much better than Samsung's included app. Smartphones tend to have data plans and there's a few streaming services with Android apps. Just 2 things you forgot to mention. Personally, I'd rather spend $12 on a 32GB flash drive, than $30+ on a 32GB SD card.
