Anything below 3070 got bad rt performance in games i think.
Have to be honest I have a liquid cooled 2080ti which was supposed to bne the Bees Knees for RTX last Gen after I tried it for novelty value it got turned off and not used since I prefer to frag than see pretty things and die!
Like everyone; I am extremely disappointed by the delays of this launch, I have been struggling with my 660Ti for a long time now, and I really needed to upgrade to this card. :*(
The prices are through the roof too, near double of MSRP. No, just NO.
I will have to see some reviews first, it's not clear yet what AMD brings to the table when it comes to features, the performance looks great though. I will never buy any PC part above $400 and it's not clear if the RX 6700 will launch on the 18th of November, most likely not and the RX 6800 is out of my price point.

Then your PC will slowly become less and less capable as time goes on would you pay any more than the last Gen for more performance ? If the answer is no then why bother at all, I too am awaiting reviews, however the AMD 6800xt card bests my Current card by some margin and is half what I paid even less if you factor in the water block, has more Ram and uses less power for me its a no brainer

I went from 660gtx to 1070ti and it was huge jump in performance more so then any other card to card I got. main reason why went from 660gtx tp 1070ti was cause the 660gtx could not play skyrim se at 1080p60 fps... the one pc game i play the crap out of.
RT is still just PR imo to much performance hit we got few years before it really becomes.
Today I launched my new Automobile Company. The first car is the AS12 SS, a V12, with 1400 horsepower super car. Price is $119,999. Tomorrow I'm launching the AS6 GT, V6 super-turbo-blower charged version with 999.99 horsepower for $99,999. You may send me money now. I'm taking pre-orders.
On a more serious note. Maybe when they get around to releasing the RTX GTX 3015, 5GB, 96 bit version, I'll be able to afford it.

I will then just stop upgrading at one point, your right, at that point I won't bother to upgrade at all, I will simply just play what I have, if something breaks, I will just buy it second hand as I require because prices have already reached ludicrous levels, the irony is, even second hand prices will eventually reach that $400 limit. If the progress wasn't made at more or less the same price levels of the previous generations, it wasn't a leap forward, otherwise, fewer and fewer people will be able to afford them as time passes, which is already happening but will become worse with time. The crazy prices have nothing to do with inflation either, if it were, they would have been significantly cheaper than they are now. No, this is simply greed, this "shortage" is to drive prices up even further. I also wish "free games" were never bundled, because they aren't free, I would rather have that $60-100 cheaper GPU and decide what I want to do with that $60-$100, thanks, I guess people also didn't notice that price bump on their GPU's when the "bundled" bs started?
Let's follow your logic further.. okay, it's a new generation with more features, it's faster, R&D costs blah blah blah, when is enough, enough for you? $10 000? $100 000? $1 000 000? $10 000 0000? $100 000 000? $1 000 000 000?

Am sorry but your not getting the overall message, progress in terms of research and engineering costs Money, would you still expect to pay the same for say a family car as you did 20 years ago? No? Why not? Because that same car can do the same things and has the same features easily as a Top of the range vehicle of 20 years ago, its is safer, quicker, needs less servicing, causes less pollution and has features such as Climate control, airbags, ABS, etc etc that were at one time optional, who pays for all the research and development or is it better we all drive a VW Golf from the year 2000.
The new cards from both Teams surpass the previous gen by some margin but you dont want to pay for the development, increased engineering and quality that creates this effect, does that make sense?
Please enlighten me because if what your saying sounds dumb really is then we can all go back to a 2 core CPU with say a 9800xt card from the year 2004 or similar, because well since then we have not moved on in terms of software and OS etc, back in 04 your standard Windows OS had about 50 processes running when busy and you would only open a few tabs online with no need to stream, video call etc (in the main), now thats expected as part of daily life hell my Phone has more raw cpu grunt than most PCs from the early 2000s!
Or perhaps you expect increasing performance for the same £100.00 you paid 2 years ago guess what everyone else wants a wage increase so prices creep, research costs more so prices creep, in summary thats the dumbest comment I have seen on here.
I will enlighten you. @Legacy-ZA said he or she won't pay more than $400 for a single PC part. I've never paid more than $400 for a single PC part. I understand prices are going up but to think and assume that you can't spend less than $3000 dollars by your calculations is just stupid and ridiculous.
Did I say 3000? Did I even calculate? I just said if he was to stick at that price point in a few years he will have a PC thats very low down on the spec list so 400 Today will probably be the equiv to 150 in a few years in terms of spec, but to say my comment was dumb is a bit harsh, in reality its just the way it will be bread when I was a child was 29p for a loaf that same loaf today is 89p same bread same loaf, maybe I should try to buy a loaf for 29p and see what I get working by your logic!
Well I don't understand your currency, but as an American I can say that for the last 20 years I've never paid prices like you're suggesting. Yeah, GPU's are getting more expensive I get it. And I think its bullshit. But for for CPU's, Mainboards, SSD, Ram, etc we are very far off of those becoming $400 each.
Seriously?
Why is it bullshit that things that are better developed and achieve more are more expensive, I guess you dont expect a raise at work for doing a good job then and you will work for your whole life for the same salary irrespective of position so start at $1000 dollars a month and 20 years later get the same despite the fact you have new skills and are bringing more productivity to the table plus you spent 10k educating yourself to do that but you dont need to be paid any extra because well it would be bullshit of you to expect to get paid more?

because he'd rather complain about the cost of products instead of the faulty wage scaling.
Ummmm.... I've maintained the same $400 per component price limit since I first started working...... That was more than 20 years ago. I've yet to see this drop off in capability that's being claimed....
People can go to school for only $10K? Where is this at? Not getting a degree from any college near me for only $10K.....
This thread has turned weird.
After the supposed performance numbers leak, I'm looking more and more forward to Guru3D reviews of this GPU (3060 Ti) and AMD's answer, 6700 (XT?). It should be interesting.
What is this "launch" thing you are talking about? We are still waiting for real "launch" of 3080. 😀
in what two months we've had the paper launch of (I'm counting the radeons already) :
GPU
rtx 3080
rtx 3090
rtx 3070
rx 6800
rx 6800xt
CPU
ryzen 9 5600x
ryzen 9 5800x
ryzen 9 5900x
ryzen 9 5950x
soon the 3060Ti then 6900xt and maybe the 3080Ti and then hopefully the threadrippers
brands have completely lost it in their marketing wars trying to one up each other
it may be my memory but since when do we have a spam of releases you can't buy, almost one new every week !
in which parallel dimension is that good marketing ? are those move only made to influence shares or something ?
I take the positive aspect out of this "brawl" by the time there's actually stock for something I'll be able to pick whatever is best for me, but the brands are losing pretty much all the sales from less patient "enthusiast" customers and generating anger from the ones who "had" to upgrade but can't they aren't going to buy inferior products now they will just hate you for the delay

The issue is 2020 and Covid19 lots of folks with a lot more disposable cash because nothing has been open for much of the year to spend it hence many upgrade budgets are probably much bigger than normal.
RTXGTX 3015, 5GB, 96 bit version, I'll be able to afford it.
