Im not sure if this has been said or not, but this is usually what Nvidia does with its titan releases they overprice it to make the next step down look more appealing. Yes people buy the titan but more people will buy the next step down being in this case the new gtx980ti. Those kinds of specs though I would take with a fat grain of salt.
granted this probably wont be the final or real specs but will might be close or somewhat similar. obviously nvidia cant make the 980 Ti a faster and overall better card than the Titan X. but i do see the 980 Ti giving AMD a run for their money with the launch of their 300 series. if the 980 Ti is reasonably priced given the performance we all think it's going to give, the 980 Ti will probably be the overall best gamer card for price vs performance.

2way SLI 980Ti MSI Lightnings... yeaaah buddeeeeh!

So again are we gonna see Titans (1000$) beaten up by the Ti ($700)? Well played Nvidia, or the marketing department tho 😛
Dood: Overpriced Titan piece of crap. nVidia: New GTX 9000, it's more powerful than the last Titan at a lower price! Dood: That's more like it, what a steal at $700! 🤓

So how does 1 980 ti look compared to 970 SLI non overclocked? I would like to get one card.

Non titanGM200 was bound to happen, Im betting on May-June release date. 6gb check, well I knew that all along, the name not so much.. Full chip seems logical too, maybe they will sell crippled later, if not even better, less milking. Imo 12gb looks pointless & bragging and since the couldn't implement FP64 they had to make TitanX look "somewhat special" with 12gb. Fail'd attempt. That Titan PCB doesnt look anything HQ either, apparently its GM204 PCB with extra 2 layers on it.. Price wise, well ~600 -700€ for sure. Although 700€ is still too much imo, I rather wait few more months and pay 20-30% less.
It IS pointless, just like the 6gigs on the Vanilla Titan were as it was nowhere near powerful enough to use them in games. Consoles have 6gigs available for graphics in their 8gig unified memory architecture. So even in terms of texture caching which we've been seeing in all those "dirty" console ports it won't run out of memory. Not to mention no FP DP on the new titan, which negates the original claim that titans are for pro work, then gaming. My poor "3.5" gig card and the 3gig 780ti my next door neighbor has don't run out of juice even on those caching intense games @1200p 16:10 (SoM, DAI, DyingLight) Well ok, I ran out of juice on max distance in DL, but thats just too many 4k tree shadows causing that, not the rest of the frigin textures. Also, the regular 980 with a 100-150euro price cut is gonna be quite attractive..

I'm pretty sure that early adopters know about the risk's involved. If people can afford 1000+ for a gfx card then i'm pretty sure they can sell it on and buy anything newer or faster. That's why i'm not an early adopter, one because i can't afford it but another reason is because they always seem to get screwed over.

970 is still advertised as being a 64 ROPs card? Or the list is in a bad need of updating?

Wonder how a single one of these will compare to R9 290x crossfire. I am considering for games where crossfire profiles exist.

If I'd have to take a semi educated guess, since it's all still rumor, I would say the performance would be equal...ish, or a tiny bit under 2x970s, but you get the bigger vram and you can always add another 980Ti. 🙂

It would only be fair to compare these cards to the 390/390X when they come out.
Completely agree, but.....I have a 290x right now. Wondering what the best bang for my buck would be when the 390x and the 980 Ti come out. Trying to get ready for GTA 5 and witcher 3.....which are going to be crazy GPU hogs. Don't know if it's worth upgrading to the 290x crossfire now or waiting until summer.

guppy if you're running 1080p I'm sure you'll be fine. If 1440p you still might be.
Same as you Deathchild, QNIX 2710 2560x1440 at 100hz. Even with my overclocked 290x, I can barely run Dragon Age Inquisition at 40 fps with max settings. Certain areas make the fps better or worse, but the average is around 40. Mantle vs Directx is a different story.

Not really, I think Titan x is a limited number release card, overpriced, and Nvidia will still make profit.:)
Very true.
As a potential buyer i dont see anything but good in that news. Bring fully unlocked 980ti for 700$-750$ anytime
Also very true. I can see this as a positive thing.

In Elite Dangerous there's currently a scavenger hunt where people can win up to 5 Titan Black. So there's yet another card more or less announced.

Titan Black has been out for a while now. Which brings up another thing, the Titan naming scheme sucks.

Titan - 780 Ti.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/87/87487.jpg
The Titan X does offer a nice performance boost over the GTX 980 and if the GTX 980 Ti, which is rumoured to be the same as the Titan X spec minus 6 GB of VRAM, is £550 or less then I don't think I could resist buying one even though I know I don't really need it for any games I am currently playing (The Witcher 3 though...who knows?). I guess I could recoup some of the cost from selling my GTX 980. It's the 6 GB of VRAM that tempts me and that improved hardware spec with 50% extra memory bandwidth.

lol, I'm giving myself ideas, that's usually a bad thing to do when it comes to wanting things I can't afford yet
Honestly, I never gave reselling cards a thought. But if there will be a 980Ti, and it is a reasonable gimped Titan X, I might consider it. But only a little tad, since I'd have to sell them with the Waterblocks on :P
I just bought 2x 980 for SLI within the month... YOu think this Ti version will be out in the next 2 months so i can use the step up program on both of these?
Probably not within two months, but certainly sometime this year.
Wait for the Titan X Black Edition 🤓
Q3 or holiday season 🤓
I don`t believe the ti or whatever its going to be called is going to be a full blown gm200, be nice if it did, unless yields were absolutley phenominal, more likely a slightly cut down version will be released around 2800 cores maybe?
Well, yields shouldn't be too bad, as it's still on 28nm, and I guess they've figured it out quite well after this time. The only question is, how does Nvidia want the card to compare to the TitanX, as well as the 980 of course, and the upcoming AMD stuff.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/242/242471.jpg
This card would cost at least 700-800 Euros. Right now 980 are 600-650 in europe(aftermarket cooler). If Nvidia doesn't wanna drastically cut the price of the 980 and 970 the 980ti would make them both obsolete price performance wise. You could oc it and nearly get 970SLI for the same price....
Yes and no, look at what happened when 780GTX came, 680GTX got a drop to 350-450€ while 780GTX sold for ~ 550-650€. I have no doubt it will be the same now with GM204 vs GM200. Those wondering what it will be like vs 2x970 or 2x 290x, look at titanx and add maybe add 5-15% boost on it and you have your answer 🤓

Not sure, the wording in the competition is that the the winners get their real card as soon as it's released.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/226/226864.jpg
How can this be? As it will be faster than the titan X there will be NO REASON AT ALL to buy the titan X without DP FP64. It was clear a new card would arrive to fill the gap between the titan and the 980, but when its faster than the titan, what card will be placed between the 980 and the titan?
If the 390x is as fast or even faster than the Titan X, Nvidia might just be forced to react with something like the rumoured spec. If it isn't, then they might go with a more cut down version like you expect instead. That's the beauty of proper competition. You get better performing products at lower prices.
