Huh, when installing these drivers it's like the first time I got a Windows notification asking for PC reboot to finish the driver installation. I don't think I ever had that notification before when installing Nvidia drivers.

A last!!! The Chrome tab flicker is actually gone!! Although installer didn't work on my side... Had to manually force install these drivers. But they work! ***Edit: scratch that.. after restarting, it's a flicker fest.
Give this a try: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5157/

Strange that I use Opera (also Chromium-based) and the flicker is gone since 461.09 drivers here... Gsync enabled on a 165hz panel... Clean, after DDU install time maybe??

OMG I had stuttering and freezing issues on some windows especially VLC with anything other than the OpenGL renderer WHILE resizing them and this fixed it. Everyone talks about flickering and I thought this has nothing to do with my issue. Seems it totally is!

Do you have any ETA on when there will be a driver for World of Warcraft Shadowlands that makes it stop flickering like crazy?
We made a small change in this driver that solves or reduces the flicker for many users but a real fix is still being worked on.

WOOO FINALLY a fix for the HW-accel TDRs. For the record, they are not restricted to chrome, they also happen in just about every hardware-accelerated desktop window and especially when you have multiple open e.g. Firefox, Anydesk, MPC-HC The problem always was i do not get eventlogs or dumps when they happen, so there is nothing to send to Nvidia. I will know by monday if it actually fixes it 🙂 EDIT: Reddit comments say the issue persists. Not encouraging

your overclock is unstable. ie, the vendor overclock is unstable.

After switching to 3080 i noticed my chrome was flickering if i minize or resize it, or just move it from 1 screen to another. The weird thing is i found a fix but its retarded, i use "Rainmeter" to show my ram/cpu usage as a widget on the desktop, and after i installed those back after the gpu switch and windows reinstall, the flickering was gone.. Not sure how they're related.

Egads, overclocking Ampere? You're better off putting a tremolo bar on a tuba.
no joke.

I do agree that modern components are not really OC friendly in a sense that they are usually already pushed to the max. But on the other hand i yet have to see an ampere card that cant do +1000 on the memory rock stable.

Providing a bit more power to them via GeForce Experience seems like it helps particularly the 3090 but I don't know how well a manual overclock would work compared to just letting the boost algorithm scale it within it's various parameters although the memory states could be a bit more flexible if it's about these. Not much of a overclock though it's just adding a bit extra for the GPU to utilize before it throttles compared to modifying voltages or the clock speed or curvature for it I think is how it works now. As for memory flexibility well sorta, might be a bit of a range on them like on AMD as well with error correction kicking in so it runs all the way up to near maximum without artifacts but the ECC makes for limited or reduced performance gains and scaling it back instead is more gainful. Not sure how sensitive Ampere and GDDR6X is though AMD RDNA1 was fairly sensitive and RDNA2 while a bit better is both locked at a fairly low maximum and tends to hit ECC early on so testing is needed to confirm if it really works or not. 🙂 EDIT: Actually was there even any data on that I think Micron had something like ECC but not quite the same but the available info was more limited from what I remember of trying to look it up at least. I'll better wait for the next WHQL one, the past couple drivers since december did all not fix my issues with stuttering/microfreezing several programs while opening or closing them. Also opening NVCP or Windows Display settings caused a small lag/freeze also. The past 3 drivers messed up my monitor too, sometimes upon boot it switches randomly from RGB to YCBRxxx and requires to change it in NVCP back, but it doesn't change until another reboot and changing it again from YCBRxxx to RGB to finally stick. This drives me mad for weeks now. Only happens when games force fullscreen or some random spastics when you run the game in borderless but it still goes from windowed to fullscreen to your settings (Star Wars Battlefront 2 2017) while booting up....had the same issue with BF V, but only on one monitor with my 3 monitor config. Now it happens on all 3 monitors whenever i boot up a game all 3 monitors flicker/turn black and mess with my desktop icons until the game really started and wents to borderless. I think it's the games fault tho. @ManuelG Systems specs: RTX 3090 Asus Strix oc, factory oc with silent profile - latest VBIOS ASUS VG27AQ as main monitor, Dell S2417DG as left and ASUS VG248QE as right. All on 144hz MAXIMUS XII Formula with latest bios 10900k stock turbo settings G.Skill 4000mhz CL15 RAM 32GB Latest windows update, included optional ones.

Dissaster driver in The Division 2 on 1080ti. Perfect with 461.40
data/avatar/default/avatar09.webp
I uninstalled my previous driver 461.40 to install this one, the installation went through till the end and then failed, and now it looks like I can't install any video driver on my Windows 10. Any NVIDIA dispaly driver I try to install now fails with the following error in Event Viewer: Event ID 1002: The program drvinst.exe version 10.0.19041.662 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel. Process ID: 108c Start Time: 01d6fd62e98a17b3 Termination Time: 27 Application Path: C:\Windows\System32\drvinst.exe Report Id: 402e147d-3c59-4428-8de7-c43fd5e69d5b Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Hang type: Unknown Other drivers for other devices that I tried to uninstall and reinstall worked fine, the issue appears only with the NVIDIA display drivers. My windows 10 is Version 20H2: OS Build 19042.789 . I have an AMD motherboard and a 2080. What I already tried (out of despair): - Tried to redownload the drivers - Tried to reinstall the previous drivers 461.40 - Tried to install the dev drivers 465.21 - Tried to install normal and DCH versions of the drivers - Used DDU 18.0.3.6 multiple times from normal and safe mode to cleanup - Checked "SFC /scannow" and "DISM /Online /Check-Health" - Tried to run the NVIDIA drivers installer as Administrator - Disabled my Kaspersky antivirus - Disabled the network - Ran an antivirus full scan, tried other antivirus scans online and offline - Uninstalled the AMD chipset drivers - Checked Windows Update - Tried to let Windows Update to install his drivers - Tried to force install the drivers from Device Manager - Force-removed all NVIDIA drivers from DriverStore - Reset BIOS settings to defaults - Performed a disk check Each time I tried I got the above error in the Event Viewer and the drivers installation failed. The last time I was able to update the NVIDIA drivers was on the 26th Jan with driver 461.40 that installed without issues. I understand that this is not specifically related to this drivers version, but the issue started when trying to install these drivers so I am posting it here. At this time I am using the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" as display driver. Please Help if you come up with anything else for me to try.

I really wish they would fix detroit become human, I have a 3090 and only getting like 50 percent gpu usage with drops down to 20 fps with stutters and choppy performance. Its literally the only game on my system with this problem.
