Nice card! I hope they continue with the Titan cooler or improve upon it for reference cards.

Yeah someone needs to leak that 343 driver.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/235/235224.jpg
If those specs are real thats some powerful shaders to be between a 780 and a ti. Talk about doing more with less. I am more interested in the driver in gpuz though.
They've always been good at doing more with less. I can't wait for Maxwell to launch just so I can get my hands on that new driver and to pick up another 780Ti. 😀 GM200 should be pretty beasty with a die shrink too.

So do we know ~ how much 970s will be going for? Replacing the 770s @ the same price range? Any hopes for ~400ish euros is what im asking basically :P Card got fried couple months ago and i've been dieing to see the pricing on these 970s 🙁
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/198/198862.jpg
Supposedly $400, if the leaks are anything to go by. It makes sense too, as the 970 will be replacing the 770 which is at the $400 price point. So yes, expect 320-370 euros depending on the model.
If it end up at 320Eur then thats good. 290' can be found at that price or little lower but 970 will be slightly faster.

Hmm, I'm interested but $400 is already a turn-off. I guess I'll check back in the summer and choose based on my job/location (if I'm not at home, why bother?).

Supposedly the CPU is the reason the score isn't 500-700 points higher.

If the 970 really lands in between the 780 and 780Ti, the 980 will surely beat the 780Ti. It's a matter of core counts, and now seeing the 970 having 1664 cores, the here listed specs of 2560 cores look kind of unlikely.

Not impressed by the 970 tbh, all that time and NVIDIA release an underpowered gpu compared to previous technology, what happened to the rules of evolution....massive meh from me.
Why do you think it is underpowered?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/258/258664.jpg
It will perform same as a Regular Titan except it has 4GB of Ram instead of 6Gb. The regular Titan is almost 2 years old. So you pay £400 for a card just to have an extra 2GB of Ram over existing cards like a 770, Huge LOL from me. Your also gonna run out of Vram before the core runs out so you need more than one card. I wont be buying this POS anyhow, lets hope the 980 offers more and hopefully more poweful than the Ti. If it does not beat the Ti then its another fail from me, GPU's are supposed to be getting more powerful as time goes by. I will wait for the review from Hilbert before i cast anymore doubt, by the looks of it my aging 690 will still smash the 970 for performance if the rumours are anything to go by. 1,664 CUDA cores 138 TMUs 32 ROP's In late 2014 thats underpowered and Funny 🙂
Well, wasn't it like that with all the latest nvidia cards, running out of GPU beaf before the VRAM bottlenecked? And all this does not surprise me, to be honest. I'm not interested in the 970 anyway, just like you Vet, but I expected it to land in performance between the 780 and the 780Ti, for that price, with that VRAM... if anything I think it's underpowered for still 400$ price!

Well, the 690 is a dualcard, so I'd be kinda surprised if the 970 would be able to outperform it just yet, given how much performance the 690 has when SLI actually works. My 680 still chugs along nicely on my Dell U2711, so... no interest in the new cards from me. Maybe when we see what AMD have up their sleeve. I've grown annoyed with nvidias prices.

Atleast AMD has the decency to release such new cards in the series of their respective performance. R9 285 anyone? This is even more disgusting towards less tech savvy people who think they're jumping two generations yet they are quite very much not doing so.

Well I think he meant that two generations later, a dual GPU still outperforms all but maybe the top single GPU in general. That I kind of understand. But I guess it's the same as with Intel vs AMD at the CPU sector: Too little competition to make them really show what would be possible, rather than milking the cash cow.

GTX 900 Series Release Date Confimed By Gigabyte As Formerly Called 800 Series To Be Revealed On EGX 2014! 980, 970 And 960 Launches Soon! The GPU model of the GTX 980 would be based on the Maxwell GM204 28nm chip. The GTX 980 would have 2560 CUDA cores, 160 TMUS and 64 ROPS. The GPU Base clock is at 1000 MHz, the GPU boost clock is 1050 MHz and the Memory clock is 1752 with an Effective memory clock of 7010 MHz. The memory size of the GTX 980 is 4096 MB with a GDDR5 memory type with a 256-bit memory bus type and a memory bandwith of 224 GB/sec. As for the pricing of the GTX 900 series cards (when it was still called the 800 series), Kitguru has stated that: "the GeForce GTX 860 will unlikely cost substantially more than $300/£200, it is logical to assume that the GM204 chip is not too expensive to manufacture." It has been reported by Cyberland that the GTX 980 is projected to be at least 30% faster than the GTX 780ti and that you can expect a full reveal of all the GTX 900 series cards on EGX 2014. http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/36520/20140910/gtx-900-series-release-date.htm This is more like it and if its true i will be grabbing 2 along with 2 custom waterblocks.
Oh yes! I wholeheartedly agree.

Man if they release the 980 below 400€, i will get one as soon as possible! If not i´ll have to settle for a 970...

MSI shows off GeForce GTX 980 GAMING with Twin Frozr V cooler. http://videocardz. com/52276/msi-shows-off-geforce-gtx-980-gaming-with-twin-frozr-v-cooler
Reads as if they have invented the start up counter spinning my 580 Lightning with the TwinFrozr IV had into the common card now.

That Frozr V looks great. It reminds me somehow on lightning cards.
