E-peen.
No, the word is that the 3080 was to be released in a 20GB model. However then a 10GB model was added as better pricing alternative. The interesting part here is that 3080 will launch at 10 GB, but later down the line in time, there will be a 20GB version released as well.
Question is those weird ram configuration, will give the same card? Or different specs? Rumor has it there will be new/improved vram down the road later. I smell those bigger ones to use more and also faster ram. I cannot see a reason nvidia or amd not using q4 2020 materials some time in 2021.
Well Gainward so far is the first AIB partner to stick with the traditional 2x 8 pin power configuration. That is nice to see. If am seeing the power connectors correctly that is.
Weird placement of those 2x 8pins they are almost in the middle of the card.
Let's hope the 3090 isn't £2000 my guess would be 1200-1400 GBP.
BTW those Metal bars/cage over the fans won't impeed air flow but they sure look like they help with sagging because it's built like a roll cage. I like it actually.
$1400 for 3090 is keep dreaming, add another $200-$400 on top of it. Even if $1400 turns out to be true...all these cards will be sold for at least $200 more. It is all BS. You are easily looking at 3090 being priced around $2000. Nvidia is going to keep losing consumers as people will opt for PS5 or XBOX. We still shall to see Navi 2 for PC but I bet they will charge that thing $1000+ as well.
3090 Should boost to 2000 MHz easily and 3080 even higher 2025 MHz.
Will update once i have my 3090 🙂
Yeah that's what I expect you have the base clocks and then the boost which hits whatever limit but should still be able to push things up by a nice bit especially for a custom cooler or when on a water cooling kit. 🙂
Will be interesting to see what the stock models can do and then comparisons with these custom designs and coolers both clocks and overall noise and all that plus what limits NVIDIA has and what tools like Afterburner could do here eventually.
But assuming the card doesn't get too hot I expect the stock model to still have a pretty good boost clock speed especially if these early variants and from NVIDIA in particular are higher binned which from a few searches seem to be something that the earlier first batch / founder editions had going for them.
(Making for a strong case of fit a custom cooler or a water block on the card and utilize that to it's fullest. 😀 )
EDIT:
Aura89:
Karma doing karma things again
I'm not too sure about that.
Early batch of cards possibly limited availability at first and then if it's a MSRP of 1400 US Dollars at least here it'll be similar but in Euro and then VAT plus the usual higher pricing in certain countries like Sweden here.
I would like to see 10.000 SEK - 12.000 SEK while extremely expensive as the price range but I do expect it to be more around 14.000 SEK or higher at the least.
Still going to be interesting to see what the actual price is for these and then the next one down the 3080 for now non-Ti variant.
EDIT: Although for the second part of that I don't think there will be a lack of consumers or anything like that quite the opposite actually with how NVIDIA already has some 80% of the desktop GPU market and the 3090 is a enthusiast product for the 1% as it's sorta the new Titan unless NVIDIA later on makes a Ampere Titan specifically with whatever that might have.
(It's going to be popular and discussed but it's going to be only a small segment of actual users who actually have one but that's also enough if it's the fastest card for this generation and can keep that position which I don't doubt.)
3080 and 3070 should be selling really well particularly if the 3070 isn't too high up on the pricing although I would expect costs to be a bit higher overall once again.
A later on 3060 could also be incredibly popular while still providing a good upgrade option from Pascal or earlier mid-range products before something like the 3050 and low-range cards are introduced.
(Or however things are looking for what NVIDIA has planned for launch lineup here and shortly afterwards for additional models.)

That would be a very strange product strategy from nVidias side. "Let's make a GPU so expensive that only a select few can buy it. And then we'll loose customers to our competitor" Stock would plummet, shareholders would fume...world would end.
$1000 is still better than the $2000 you're guessing at.
^ plus, not to forget, people who would buy a GPU for $1000+ aren't really the segment that decides between a PC and a console... more likely they have both if they're interested to buy a console. You don't buy a gaming righ with ~ $2000 cost and decide that another 200$ will be the thing that makes you switch to consoles.
People buying top end GPUs don't do it out on a whim, since already for years they would have made that decision: pay $1000+ for a gaming rig or $500 for a console, hasn't really different for a decade now. They would have already left for consoles by the time the PS4 was a thing.
Also, I believe people who are focused on PC gaming will be much more likely to buy a lower tier card, than a card from the competitor, e.g. more 3080s than 3090s, if the 3090s are too expensive.
Also, all those prices are unconfirmed... both AMD and Nvidia haven't given out any confirmed information on prices (yet), probably later today we'll get a first idea (Nvidia event).
