Well hold up a second, a wagyu steak costs more than a quarter pounder with cheese for a reason, maybe this board does something immensely awesome and we are just missing it????????????????????

Seriously though, where is that money going, what is being offered that boards a third of the price do offer, genuine question.

-copper is expensive -more connections two USB4 40Gbps ports, five USB-C 10Gbps ports, eight USB-A 10Gbps ports (shame about the 5ghz lan port) -godlike brand

tldr; ... it's all bullshit, but here's the rationale: this is the "halo-ist" of halos, and a truly gorgeous board for a showpiece system in a high-end case. and like everything in the high-end, very few people have an actual application or need in buying this, but everyone has an aspiration. and tbh, you don't even need this for cryo cooling... so, outside of the YouTube creators, this is exactly for the fellow who wants a Lamborghini Quattroporte as their family car when a Camry would be just as functional. the "good" news is at least you don't have to sweat the fabric, color, and leather choices. i will probably get 2 or 3 build orders with this (weird, ain't it) as the typical buyer will have more money than time, and the time they do have they want to play with their toys, not build them (as far as custom builds go - 50%-ish will build themselves). i will be quiet but appropriately shocked with pairing any gpu than a 4090/5090

Seriously MSI, over a thousand dollars for a motherboard? This better not become the new normal.

I'm going to sound like a broken record, but just for the record:

Which of course they will, regardless of our opinions on a Forum. A friend recently dropped $2K+ on a slip on Akropovich muffler for his bike. Makes him happy. /shrug Everybody's vessel floats in their own fashion. or something like that.

MSI is smoking crack. You get most of this functionality out of the Asus ProArt for $480. 10Gbe/2.5Gbe, 4 M.2, and USB4. The X670E version is even cheaper.

hell even the vanilla Asus X870 + buying a 10GbE card will do the trick

My exhaust was nearly £2500k including the Sports Cat and carbon tips (x 3) but its custom made and TIG welded, made to order stuff is never cheap so i understand where the money goes. Also it adds significantly to the performance as without a larger bore exhaust, a remap is less efficient as is an improved intake system. Its a bit like running a 4090 with 8gb RAM or an Intel 2700k. I get why the 4090 is more expensive, its faster but with this MOBO there seems no more functionality than the top end £500 boards.
