Why do I feel like this game was already released like 6 months ago?

I hate to say it, but already this game is looking like just another copy and paste of Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. No graphical or gameplay revolution like the original Far Cry was known for. The Far Cry name has stretched really far due to its huge impact on the PC gaming world, but it will stretch no further. These games need to stand on their own merits and not just the Far Cry name. Copy and paste is just a low cost, low effort and low budget way to squeeze more milk from that tired old cow. Also, I see a cool American flag style graphic on that machine gun. Will that be available to everyone or will we have to loot box it up to get those little extras? I don't trust these big developers anymore. This is an absolute wait and see for this one. Just more copy and paste I'm afraid.

Same could be said about COD, BF, AC, etc... Games live up to their standards and what they are about. People who love Far Cry will still love it. Change a game a lot, everybody will hate for being different and not what everybody expected. I really liked Far Cry 2 and 3. I want to play 4 and 5. I know what to expect and devs said it loud and cleat what FC5 about: "Clearing territory and progressing". If you don't like it, there plenty of other games to play.
I think it's more about how you change the formula. AC:4 was quite different due to naval battle for example and I suppose AC:Unity was somewhat different due to the setting. AC:Syndicate on the other hand was a true copy paste to Unity which is perhaps why AC:Origins sold so well, just because the drastically changed the setting and the formula while staying true to the core mechanics. FC:primal had a completely different setting while staying true to the core mechanics but still gave the player freedom - something which is completely absent in FC4. 3 and 4 are so incredibly close together and FC5 seems to be a bit too close as well. I think both FC:primal and then AC:Origins showed us that Ubisoft can bring us something fresh to the table but I fear that FC5 isn't anything like that.

Ha, lol, from the video "when your inferno arrow hits a bull instead" and the "harmless turkey" - funny! (P.S. have to watch the video to appreciate). Looks like a game worth playing.

Tend to feel that 2 > 1 > 4 > 3. 5 looks like a modded 4. I found both 3 and 4 provided no challenge other than picking up map markers, 5 looks to be more of the same.

I love Far Cry 3 and 4. I played each one multiple times and had a blast every time. I'm perfectly fine with the copy/paste approach to development and I don't care about the stories. I just want a sandbox to play in, and they do a great job of giving me that. I like to bow hunt, snipe, blow stuff up, unlock new weapons, etc. The sense of progression is great for me. I'll happily buy a reskinned version of the core Far Cry formula once every couple of years if they want to keep putting them out. I don't need these games to be groundbreaking to have a good time.

The license needs to go back to Crytek and they need to make a proper FarCry Sequel.. These are not FarCry games, they just hijacked the name.

StewieTech:

I will never understand scripted gameplay footage though, its basically the development team and publisher massaging their bollocks under careful placed lights. You know, give us a demo or something, then i will decide if its fun or not...
Scripted trailers like this drive way more hype and pre-orders than demos. They make these sizzle reels because it nets them more money at launch.
