Blame your own governments for the huge markups. Whether it be VAT, customs duties, excise duties, import tariffs, those all stem from the destination country and their trade policies. Don't want to pay Tariffs? Elect someone who supports free and fair trade both to and from the US. No more one sided trade deals where EU goods have no tariff while everything the US sends to EU gets 10-30%.
