Hilbert, correct me if I'm wrong but latest official Realtek HD audio WHQL drivers for Windows 2000/XP/2003 32&64bit are R2.74 (v.5.10.0.7111; date: 2015/05/14). Official R2.76 (v.6.0.1.7487) drivers doesn't exist for these OS's, R2.76 supports only Windows Vista/7/8/8.1. edit Nevermind, just remove undelined paragraphs from article to avoid confusion for Win2000/XP/2003 users edit #2 Strange fact about Realtek R2.75 drivers (v.6.0.1.7246), and I'm almost 100% sure it's the same with R2.76 (v.6.0.1.7487): nowhere in PDF file from Realtek site there is nothing about Realtek ALC1200 on list of supported audio chips, but one mobo I have that use ALC1200 (Asus P5QL PRO) is workin like a charm with R2.75. Same goes for ALC1150. Gonna try later today these latest R2.76 on ALC1200.

no way in hell i changing audio drivers seeing since i found out every realtek audio driver before 2.75 since i first put this pc together was the reason why my system would hard lock when i had HW acceleration enabled in Firefox and any .net/java program that use hw acceleration when any Voice chat program was up and running, that 2.75 fixed. Not till realtek learns the art of patch notices that arnt vague.

I talking GPU HW acceleration the type firefox,chrome,.net,java.etc use Realtek audio drivers EVERY driver prior 2.75 and I mean every driver going back to when i first put this pc together 5 years ago had this issue I was bored one day and said lets update realtek audio drivers and see if anything happen locks were gone i then went and test every driver i could find previous to 2.75 and they all locked my system to when such things was enabled when any voice chat program was used and connected. There drivers simply didnt get along with HW acceleration of that type I was instantly pissed of and now i wont touch the realtek audio drivers and probably wont have realtek chip on my next system Ethernet or Audio. 5 god damn years i had this issue and turned out it was there drivers

Might give this a go but not expecting much, I absolutely despise the onboard realtek chip on my mobo and can't wait to buy a decent soundcard later in the year. If I use the equalizer in the drivers to add more bass to the sound, then whenever a song for example starts to have any low frequencies, the volume just completely drops down and then when theres a break in the song with only high frequencies the volume shoots up again. Only way around this is to use the "disable all effects" option in the sound settings which makes the sound really flat. What's even more worrying is that the default driver that is built into Windows 7 provides better sound quality but its not very compatible anymore and results in loss of sound when watching youtube or playing games, or at least it did for me.

No, Vista on up uses DirectSound.
Hardware acceleration is used in Direct sound. Duh. What, you thought that we no longer had hardware acceleration in Win7? LOL. Btw Vista is different, the sound sub-system is a total mess, Win7 is different. Also these drivers work for me but I lose certain features, notably the speaker fill option, which helps for stereo sources such as youtube when using analogue 5.1, so I went back to my old ones.
