It's not clickbait. DLSS has limited utility now. Watch the video and you'll understand.
Sharpening filters apply to the whole frame/scene which usually is not what developers always want. The developers may want certain parts of a frame deliberately out of focus, similar to a painter or photographer may do. The only way to achieve this is through DLSS and through intelligent interpretation of a frame. Granted the algorithms are not perfect but research is continuing and improvements have already been achieved with denoising algorithms.

Time Spy with 431.68 - 13400, with 436.02 - 13230, with 436.15 - 13180, but I gained some points in Superposition Benchmark. In games it's random too, some will have more fps some less..

In the case of that video, the utility of the sharpen filter is not to over sharpen a native image, but to counteract a softened upscaled image. Just like DLSS.

Shadow of the tombraider crashes with this driver. it also seems to crash with the previous driver according to steam forums. it gives a error about not having enough resources. earlier drivers seem ok.

imho with this driver The volta cards I have in my rig and Titan Xp cards in my wife and kids computers - ALL have a decrease (FPS) in Vulkan titles with this driver over the 431.70 -evek with the VK 114 ROTTR and SOTTR all exhibited a drop in performance. Example 109 fps with VK and Strange Brigade on 431.70 and now 99 fps with the 436.xx driver (max settings, no DOF or Motion Blur). Wolfenstein Colossus and Youngblood also dropped. Game load times are longer. on UE4 totels (HellBlade, Apsulov, Echo). So the optimizations (from the non-RTX world) seem to have a negative effect/performance decrease. Switched everyone in my house back to 431.70

I have lost all overclock capability in these last 2 newest set of drivers , had to put my card back to stock . Msi rtx 2080ti trio x gaming

This is the memory leak at work, system runs out of memory and the driver hangs.

Just tested Mortal Kombat 11 with the new 436.15 driver and the flickering issue is still there all over the place. The only driver we get waaaay less flickering issue is the windows insider one, 435.27 (3.6.2019). I think you guys can't take this issue from nvidia open issues.
Yeah, same here. I can't believe it takes them so long to fix this. 🙁

Nvidia is working with the developers to fix that The implementation of hdr was pre-nvidia fixing an issue that caused incorrect metadata to be sent from application to screen.

Can you avoid the installation on Geforce Experience on 436.15?

Only if you know the secret password.

And DLSS is useless. Extremely blurry. It looks better simply changing the internal resolution. Even without using a sharpen filter, DLSS looks REALLY bad here.
Looking forward to the Digital Foundry performance review. Dictator answered that DLSS warrants analysis in a separate review from the core RTX review:
Seperate video I think at this point - I will touch on it though briefly. We got this game good and early, but Gamescom meant us not at all working on it... until this week. That means we cannot go 100% in without taking too much time, and it also means prioritising what is important for all versions (DX11 vs. DX12 perf is decidedly less important than the elefants in the room). As I see it though, DLSS is more interesting of a story in this title than DX11 vs. DX12. DLSS looks good in this game.

What I usually do is to extract all the files into a folder, once I do that, I remove all the subfolders inside but: Display.Driver, NVI2 and PhysX and then I modify the setup.cfg file. I go to the very end of the file and delete this 3 lines: < file name="$ {{EulaHtmlFile}} " / > < file name="$ {{FunctionalConsentFile}} " / > < file name="$ {{PrivacyPolicyFile}} " / > Once saved I run the setup.exe and voila. I got these instructions from another user in this same forum 🙂

Im getting noticeably lower performance with this on Total War Warhammer 2
Please fill out the driver feedback form so we can look into this and include the before and after FPS you were getting: https://forms.gle/kJ9Bqcaicvjb82SdA

SharpGame:

Very good improvement with this driver and the game Control, in DX12 at 3840x2160 improvement from 8 to 10Fps, however it is impossible for me to find a combination in the configuration of the settings to be able to operate the Ray Tracing with my Asus 1070Ti, when I activate it It works for two seconds or so, stops working and returns to the desktop ...
We are looking into this. It is specific to software ray tracing (Pascal).

Did you fill out the driver feedback form? https://forms.gle/kJ9Bqcaicvjb82SdA Does it occur when running the benchmark also?

I can make a prediction. He used 4k. Which arguably is a better use of DLSS, but with RT on even I can't do 1440p above 30 FPS. A lower resolution is required, RT is directly tied to your resolution, which is why NVIDIA wants you to use DLSS with RT. I know he's using a 2080 Ti, not a 2070 like myself, but I would still argue that if he used a 1800p resolution with some sharpening, DLSS couldn't keep up. I know what I can see. To my native 1440p image, a simple 1080p upscale looks much better than DLSS (which only offers 720p and 960p. Both look horrible). 960p DLSS and regular old 1080p upscale perform about the same. I sure hope NV can find a better use for those tensor cores for us consumers. I've had my 2070 since launch, and while RT has been a blast, DLSS looks like a solution looking for a problem.

We have notified the developer. I am sorry but I do not have any other updates.
