AMD Radeon Software Customize Setup updated to v3.6.1.23 (20221026)
Added Multiplane Overlay (MPO) option.
Disabling Multiplane Overlay (MPO) can improve stuttering occur during video playback using hardware acceleration with Chrome, Firefox, Egde browser.

Chastity
Testing lappy with DXNAVI: SWTOR / DX9 could use some optimizing. Stock setup it does 67 FPS at a particular scene I am in. Swap in DXVK-ASync, and that same area hits 93 fps. (at 1440p, max settings)

I remember that MPO disaster with nvidia drivers back then.
Did someone test 22.10.2 with MPO disabled, does it fix the chrome stuttering?
And maybe angle switched to DX9 + DX9 NAVI with Regular DX11 ?
Well there is some problem with Regular DX11 too, because it also causes driver timeouts on my system.
There was also a new chrome and windows update, maybe I will give this driver a try again with MPO disabled.
//edit
Seems like disabling MPO actually did fix the Chrome stuttering, without changing the Angle backend and the dxnavi settings.
Needs some more testing but good find/reminder. ty.
//edit2
somehow my wddm version is now stuck at 2.7 even after reverting the mpo change.
hmm..
//edit3
Well, doesn't seem like it is related to the mpo thing.
Maybe the latest win update screwed something, idk. (KB5018482)
Can someone confirm this?
//edit4
Wait what,Win 10 22h2 is wddm 2.7 only? My bad x)
But:
https://www.elevenforum.com/t/find-windows-display-driver-model-wddm-version-in-windows-11.7027/
Says it should be 3.0?
//edit5
I also want to to add, how bad this driver is...
After reinstalling because of the WDDM thing.... (clean install)
I opened chrome hovered one link and instant black screen.
There wasn't even a video playing on the second screen or something else going on.
//edit6
Disabling MPO seems to be the fix.
No chrome stutter
No blackscreening
No flashing
No timeouts
Until now. fingers crossed.

After a few days of use, absolutely no problem with this driver for me.

NVIDIA thread I'm starting to think this is a fight between GPU vendors and Microsoft, there could be a chance it was MS who broke something...
Aha, just saw this edit. Yup, I'm on a 5000 series GPU and disabling MPO seems to have fixed at least some of my issues. No more weird lag or flickering in Chrome, no black screens thus far.
I looked into it after seeing the post here and the thread over in the NVIDIA section on this forum and what do you know... Disabling MPO DID fix all of the Chrome stuttering and flickering for me! No ideas about the black screens yet, will have to wait, but Chrome is absolutely a lot faster and more stable with MPO off.

I am really delighted at how great this driver has been on my desktop and laptop. Both are running games better than previous drivers and so far there hasn't been a single bug even after installing right over the previous driver on each machine. AMD has been on an absolute roll for months now with pristine drivers for both of my machines. Seems like they really got their isht together for the launch of RDNA 3 which is really great as drivers were probably one of the main reasons why people didn't want to make the jump to team red.
Bravo AMD!

Guys, what's MPO? What did I miss?

Best explanation I could find is this. I also have no idea and if this only related to vsync. Spider-Vice
My post has a link to the topic in the Guru3D NVIDIA section about it. It looks like it might be the same thing that's causing issues on AMD because thus far I haven't had one Chrome stutter, lag, corruption or black screen since disabling it. It seems to be causing acceleration issues on NVIDIA too, including in video players like VLC, which is making me think MS screwed something up at some point.

Someone using Firefox with these drivers? When skipping through some Videos by "dragging" the playbutton (depending on the Webplayer) i get green artifacts. However they don't appear on normal playback. Only during the "drag-skipping" and it doesn't happen on Chrome. Here's the link to a video where i have that happen https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1584620489779122178 keep in mind it doesn't happen on playback it only happens during skipping by dragging. I'm still on 22.10.1 and want to know if it was fixed. Otherwise i don't want to update.

Ty Guys i already sent an Error Report to AMD.

Yup...green artifacts confirmed on a 6700XT. It seems to be hardware acceleration related because the artifacts are not present with HW acceleration disabled.

Is everyones Freesync etc.. working correctly? it doesn't feel as smooth as it should, more like normal Vsync or other frame limiting. I noticed from coil whine in a game that is locked at 60 fps (4k 60Hz monitor), so I could tell it wasn't locking the framerate correctly, as normally it wouldn't be loud as the GPU usage wasn't high.
I'm pretty sure I'm seeing mild tearing also.

this driver gives me black screens on boot or when driver is being reinstalled - no picture untill rebooted
