ha, they fixed the SSE4 flag.

What do you mean by that? What was wrong with SSE3 flag? They compiled them with wrong parameter or what?

sorry, yeah, you needed SSE4.2/a or you couldn't run DX12. specifically, the popcnt instruction. A lot of C2D/C2Q people were pissed as they only have SSE4.1 they fixed it. more than likely they accidentally compiled it against the wrong library. Doesn't mean the game itself wont require it though, in which case you are still out of luck.

Something is broken with the download of W10 x64, stops at 57%. Tried multiple browsers, etc, its AMD`s fault.
Try uget portable, it's handy for these situations. My first download try via browser also stopped. Edit: UVD idle clocks bug is still present on Pitcairn. There goes another report...

Atiapfxx.exe -r -sys -s "test.xml" results against 16.10.1 (October 14th update.) -> (That's just the version number / compile date or how to say.) Crossfire profile updates: Battle Field 1 "DXX" updates: (Could these be DirectX related compatibility flags or some such?) Rainbow Six Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Overwatch "DXX" additons: Ludashi COD Infinite Warfare Titanfall 2 SSTLH (Serious Sam VR I believe.) Civilization VI "HighPerfGPUAffinity": (Prefer dedicated GPU over integrated from what I've been told.) Carestream 3D Imaging Carestream CS Mesh Viewer Carestream Model Kodab bridge Rise of the Tomb Raider Orion (UE4 steam-early access MMO I belive?)

I don't believe that neither not supporting, neither the switch were by mistake.

why would they bother to fix it if it wasnt a mistake? Nvidia doesnt require it, they would be at a competitive disadvantage if they did it intentionally. Its going to happen eventually, by the game devs if not the GPU makers, but i dont think this time it was intentional. i think your tinfoil hat is showing... lol

I noticed this time around that Application Profiles are forced installed with this installer vs earlier ones.

The RTG team is on fire. Im wondering if they ever gonna remove the old radeon additional settings.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/88/88194.jpg
Hope not until they add the same functionality to Crimson.
I guess he meant it that way. I also began to wonder if CCC3 lands before they merge CCC1 and CCC2. It's like the people who put CCC2 together were fired right after the first release because it turned out their code is junk, so nobody else can add new panels (because the old guys are gone and no sane person can figure out how the abomination works). You know, the same as with the new Windows 10 panels (by Microsoft) πŸ™‚ πŸ€“

They wouldn't have considered that someone would couple a (for example) RX 480 with an old dual core Core 2 processor. Newer instruction sets often supersede functions in older instruction sets. Having to support a multitude of instruction sets in the drivers and game engines etc isn't productive. It also can swell the code size and complexity. I can't imagine DirectX 12 games running too well on a Core 2, at least to the point where the RX 470/480 etc can be properly utilised, a decent frame rate is achieved, and the quality settings aren't limited.
My i7 950 + 390 is still kicking buttocks! πŸ™‚ I'm only 1080p@75, but hey, it works on highest settings

ok this it weird all drivers since version 16.9.1 are getting installed to \SystemRoot\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository before 16.9.1 it was \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS this would explain http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=5342149&postcount=20 cmd to check: reg query HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\amdkmdag /v ImagePath older drivers: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\atikmdag.sys newer drivers: \SystemRoot\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\*.inf*\atikmdag.sys can someone confirm this?

The following table shows several commonly used dirids, and the directories they represent. The values most commonly specified by device INF files and driver INF files are listed toward the top of the table. ... %13% Driver package's Driver Store directory. For Windows 8.1 and later versions of Windows, specifies the path to the Driver Store directory where the driver package was imported.
installing driver to windows driver staging directory? not sure if that is common / good practice

Mafia 3 still doesn't run on my Phenom II. Thought it has Cpu driver but it is just Gpu driver.Wondering how at AMD house thought to solve SSE4.2 command issue by graphic driver? Still wait still hope πŸ™

Hi, I have a 7870 on W8.1 w/16.10.1 drivers. Is there any reason to upgrade to this, or can I skip all these little updates?
Always update IMHO. Use DDU.

From long time ago in Win7/Win 8.1 the full package of drivers are in \System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\c730xxx.inf_amd64_xxx folder. The ati*.sys still exist in \system32\DRIVERS folder.
driverstore is now used for driver package and driver itself with newer drivers i can safely delete \system32\DRIVERS\ati*.sys this is on windows 10 (or is my windows borked?)
