LOL a gaming monitor that's 60hz. Why? Every gaming monitor should be over 60hz

1920x1080, 60hz, TN, gaming :wanker: In some countries we celebrate de April Fools' Day on December 28th(itΒ΄s called innocents day, but is the same idea), I doubt that DELL is in one of those countries

It might have low Input lag at least.. By looks of this its another made for dumb gamers that buy anything with game on it.

To all the posters above, gaming is not just about " pro gaming". I mean, not everybody can afford to spend 200E+ on a monitor. Steam statistics speak for themselfes. 720p still dominates(yes, laptops), while 1440p is under 5%, while 4k is under 0,5%.
Yeah I don't get the issue here. As long as it's priced low who cares what the specs are? It's going to fill a gap somewhere, even if its at the complete bottom. Why does everything have to be an IPS Freesync 27" QHD 165 Hz monster?

What gap is filled with this monitor? There are hundreds of monitors with this kind of specs for a reasonable price. Maybe extremely low input lag at an extremely low price?
I don't know? We don't know the price? And I don't generally buy stuff at this end of the market. But I mean if Dell released a 24 inch 60hz gaming monitor at $3 there would still be people here at Guru3d complaining about it. On the flipside, I own a XB270HU, does that make every other monitor that doesn't have G-Sync, 144Hz, QHD with a sub 5ms input lag useless? No. Prior I owned the PG278Q, which came out last year, should I post a "what year is it" meme every time some monitor that doesn't have those specs comes out? As long as the price is reasonable for the specs what's the issue? And since we don't know the price here, I don't understand how people can complain about it.

Should we be impressed with TN running at 60Hz? I had such monitor almost 10 years ago... πŸ˜• On the other hand, this could be a New Year gift to all the gamers around the world, free of charge, distributed by Santa Claus...

60hz is not bad for gaming. My Samsung monitor is a TN panel with 5ms response time. I don't get any input lag. Why would I care about the viewing angle if I'm sitting right in front of it? If you have a multi monitor setup IPS is the obvious choice. My picture is brilliant. I use Vsync and pretty much everything plays at a solid 60fps. I'm sure most people here have the visual acuity of a falcon and would notice the difference.....seriously. These panels tend to not be pricey compared to IPS panels anyway. Mine was only 90 bucks on sale.

Nope. According to the people in this thread you don't exist. Sorry bro 144Hz G-Sync/Freesync PVA with 1MS input lag Zero Bezel 4500:1 Contrast 27" Inch Curved Platinum coated display or bust. If you can't afford it then you have no business in PC gaming. /s

And those people don't have mortgages, car payments and other things that are a higher priority. Hobby builders tend to be a little arrogant about their hobby. πŸ€“

Ok, having purchased this monitor, I thought I'd throw in my thoughts about why I bought it. It was cheap for a 2ms response 1080p monitor at $135 shipped and it came with a Dell extended warranty at no extra charge (Dell replaces monitors with an upgraded model, which in this case would be the $349 Ultra Sharp in the same model line; recycles the damaged one). I had already researched the low-end Viewsonics, LGs, BenQs, and Asus gaming monitors that were in the $125-$180 price range and they all suffered from the same four common complaints: Complete hardware failure around 12-18 months, actual response times higher than the listed response time (most of them were listed at 5ms, actual response sometimes as tested by some pissed off customers was at 10ms or greater), poor ability to be calibrated, and last but not least: many of them having stuck/dead pixel issues in the center of the screen, right out of the box. All of this being said, I do realize this not a 10-bit (to 16-bit) channel Eizo whatnot or GSyncWTFSAUCE4K144hzOMGZ monitor and I don't expect it to perform on that level. It does perform quite adequately so far in the tasks that I use it for (including the games that I play) and actually has better color vibrance than some of those more expensive models that I actually went to a physical location (two local shops and Best Buy) to examine. Final notes: IPS as a technology is not at all important in my personal setup due to limited space in which to physically place monitors and the fact that I don't do photo editing of any sort - it is probably important for people that need wide viewing angles in a multi-monitor (read: 3 or more monitors) setup for gaming + photo and video editing. TN panels for all of the faults that they do have, work fine for the code monkey work I do as a hobby, the movies that I watch, etc. so I am willing to purchase one of them over a more expensive IPS panel. A good chuckle I had was reading one of the earlier comments making a wisecrack about it not having DVI as if that was a bad thing - It has dual HDMI and one Analog port (which can be used not just to connect laptops, etc and to use hardware calibration devices with). This is "insert current year", nobody uses DVI anymore πŸ™‚
Good for you man, I guess Dell had you in mind when they made this. I also can confirm that Dell customer support, for me at least, has been top notch. When I bought my u2711 it had a bug at one particular revision number, and they sent me like 4 monitors (each brand new) until I got the latest revision where the bug was fixed, and we were talking about a ~$1000 monitor at those times. It still works great, even though I kind of wished it broke down while it was still in warranty lol, simply because as you have said, they would have sent me the new model as replacement. Too bad Dell doesn't offer the more high-end gaming monitors with 144Hz, IPS, g-sync etc. etc., ASUS and Acer are simply plagued with backlight bleeding and other manufacturing problems, that simply shouldn't be there considering they cost a ton. :bang:
