I ordered 4 copies last month. This seemed like the perfect gift for the geeks in my family. Now, it doubles as an XMAS present. 😀
As to that early money affecting the game release? Rubbish. They had dump trucks full of money to make the game already.

Maybe, but i was talking in a more general way because not every gaming studio has the same finacial power as CDR and i would not be surprised if many companies depend on the pre orders money to finish their games.
I could be wrong, of course, and the early pre orders can simply be a case of greed...
LOL. Losing credibility because they want to deliver a Day 1 playable game. OK.
"People" (especially active on social media) are idiots. The game will sell millions of copies nonetheless, and it will be better for the slight delays.
They lose credibility because they're unable to keep a date multiple times. Several months is not a slight delay. They've opened themselves up to criticism and scrutiny by setting dates they can't meet.
Edit: I'm not bothered by the delays but I can understand why people are getting annoyed.
H83:
This^ I really wish gaming companies would stop announcing release dates unless the game is already done and ready for distribution. This kind of stories about delays are not good for anyone involved.
But i guess the pre order money is too hard to resist... And maybe even essential for completing the games...
I'd prefer to see games announced when they're nearing a release ready state. Announcing early but not setting a date until a game is ready would be a nice alternative.
CD Projekt Red is losing a LOT of credibility right now. I never thought I'd say that. All these delays have only made the hype 10x bigger. If they can't deliver then well.. its not gonna be good.
how they loosing credibilty? I rather the delay it till it actual READY instead of shitting out the door with tons of issue and problem like some publisher like to do
it not devs that make release date is the damn publishers that decided when depend on what they hear and put the pressure devs.
If the publishers stay the hell out of let the dev say when it dont and will be release it really would be such issue..
I dont really mind cause I still have to finish witcher 2 then witcher 3...
I've zero issues with this news, if CDPR wants more time to polish perhaps the biggest game of the decade then fine by me.
This actually gives me more confidence in the game tbh.
While I have zero issue with the delay, It would have been cool if they had e-mailed me about this postpone.
I have preordered with my GoG account, they have my e-mail (they use it to tell me when a game in my wish-list has a promotion).
So they could have e-mailed me about, and choose not to and as a customer that has already paid for the product, I think it's somewhat a shame.
I won't take offense nor cry in social medias for that, though. :-p

Very well put. The best comment I have seen so far on the delay.
"People are not idiots they just want to play the game that has been delayed over and over again after going gold. Who sais it wont delayed to 2021 at this point?" <--- Denial
Are you bipolar or are you just in the habit of contradicting yourself constantly for the sake of garnering comments ?....first you insinuate that it is a bad thing then you claim that it is a good thing.....you certainly live up to your nickname.
Actually at this stage i don't wanna know your answer, it's like a friggin loterry with you anyway, never know what random spout comes out of that gob of yours.
Enough said.
I shouldn't have said they're losing credibility, they're not. I'm just speaking out of frustration out of a very frustrating year. Cyberpunk is one of the few good things I've been looking forward to, just sucks to keep waiting for it.
DLSS is gonna save my skin with this game as i'm planning on cranking all RT effects to max and if it's still no-good then i'll just upgrade. The CP2077 rtx showcase trailer is the best game trailer i've seen, i used to have borderlands 2 trailer as no.1, i'll not lie i'd gladly sink £1500 for a 3090 if i was in better situation.
And i can't see AMD's new cards flooding the market in these 'Rona' times, all AMD's cards will be gone in minutes too especially with that performance.
Giving themselves just one more sprint worth of day one patch time sounds more like upper management pushing to stay in the 2020 holiday season and not a realistic estimate of remaining performance related tuning and testing.
But I could be wrong and I hope I am.
Long time ago I almost bough console to play 1 single player game. ...almost. And I did buy new graphics for DX10 single player game and tiny visual difference.
I am not buying anything for one or few games. I grew wiser than that. I buy for games that I spend most time playing. That's especially true when spending in $500+ range.
Buying GPU based on DX-R performance in game that allegedly does not support DX-R is like buying new gaming laptop each year just for one LAN party based on its thickness.
I was like you before that and now will consider "investing" in a game feature GPU IF I play with it ALL the time. I'm not a serial gamer, playing all the new games. I'm particular and really play a LOT of online coop but older games with friends.
So I count the "hours" I would invest in a feature.
Thinks like SSAA, AO, ambient illumination, 4K, etc... matters to me ONLY if I spend a ton of time in a game world that supports and benefits from it.
I mainly rotate among these games - Half Life Sven Coop, Gmod, GZDoom with some Duke 3D and Blood (first one) thrown in, GTA 3, SA, VC and 4 (modded), ARMA 3 (was ARMA 2)... some kids games with the family like Roblox because it is like a kids version of Gmod without all the R rated stuff...
Those are my "poker" nights.
The hype around Cyberpunk is huge... If it is a real open world game, with an "eff" ton of features, mod support and RTRT, I would buy one of the Godzilla class GPUs if I know I will play it more than 2 hours a day...
I just looked at ARMA 3 to see how much I play it... over 8000 hours since Alpha launched... so if I would invest the same amount of time into CP, a $500-800 GPU would be between 0.10-0.40 USD per hour and enjoying RTRT out of it. Totally worth the price of admission.
If I'm just gonna blow through Cyberpunk in 20 hours, then yes, it would be a dumb entrance fee to pay just for one game.
I hope ARMA 4 would support RTRT. The developer can add RTRT to DayZ for example as a test, and if they did, then it would be complete no brainer for me to invest for "one game" knowing they will carry forward RTRT to their next game.
Let's see how it goes...
