"bug" Yeah. Sure. Following Snowden's revelations a few years back, I don't believe in such "bugs" anymore... However, it's good that these NSA backdoors are finally being discovered and closed. It was about damn time !

Processors from 1995? Heh sure like MS is going to release fixes for old tech like that. Also most of those vintage Computer collectors who own CPUs from that era do not have those PCs connected to the network or even the Internet for that matter. Makes me wonder how do those hackers can gain access to the CPUs without some kind of connection that is either network related or Internet. Unless I do not understand how this exploit works. The same goes with Apple I seriously doubt that Apple would try to create a patch for their computers dating back to 1995.

Well ....everyone's been having a meltdown and bitchin about intel the last couple of days.... i hope they're eating humble pie.

You know this is a HARDWARE bug?

I have seen this does not affect gaming much, that being said though, i still kinda wonder what this would mean if modern consoles used Intel processors.

An attack vector would be JavaScript or Flash through a web page. The web page wouldn't have to be malicious by nature. It could have been compromised. For example, imagine if Guru3D or another site you visit got compromised for a couple hours.

I have the solution guys, never turn on your pc, disconnect it from the internet and put it back in the box... and head down to the pub have a pint and wait for all this to blow over

well insider trading rules should apply.

I don't know why is it left out that device needs to be "hacked" in order for either of these exploits to work. Reading this article like this, one assumes that someone can just enter an IP and that's that, passwords stolen. Far from it. If they manage to get to your PC, there are way more efficient tools to use then to f**k about RAM and what's in it currently, wait for passwords, comb through desert to find "rebels".... 🙂 Anyway, I want an option to not use the fix for this non-issue if it will slow down my PC. But I am not going to be given one, I am almost sure of it. Forget about how "efficient" windows defender and firewall are, these hardware bugs, oh my god...what an issue!

Yeah, old bloody JavaScript always be a mess. (Burn in hell the master of Java language) Anyway,it's curious that the shares are responding today, given the security vulnerability appears to have been written about for some time by Anders Fogh, was penned back in July. https://cyber.wtf/2017/07/28/negative-result-reading-kernel-memory-from-user-mode/
Except Javascript and Java are unrelated programming languages.

Honestly, anyone that doesn't think there isn't spying capability on anything you have with an internet connection is being vastly naive. All this does is confirms what most of us already knew. Stay off Windows 10 and own an old PC if you want to live underground lol. Realistically, we gave all our freedoms up in the name of protection from "terrorism". Ironically, my country pretty much funded them all. So it's a big dupe of control. But hey, whatever. Live as best possible in this matrix as you can.

it not just windows issues or software issues. it a hardware issues. so every os is effected.

Don't you worry, that's covered by the older Intel ME vulnerability :P

It is still funny to see ppl complaining about Windows 10 and refusing to use it, and then they use: spying internet browsers, smartphone software, facebook etc. which is all spying on them. This day and age even simple home router could be set as a spying device with many backdoors. Every single closed source software is a spying software potentially, same thing goes for hardware - nobody really knows what all of those billions of transistors are doing...
