Clock speeds might actually go way down with 5nm CPUs but like others have said improvements in core count and latency, caches and other factors like newer chipsets like AM5 with DDR5 and PCIe5 could see big leaps in performance.
Doubt it. Historically speaking, over the last 20+ years, the clock speeds have only ever gone up. With multiple die shrinks.

Cool story fangirl.
dat ryzen tho.so much points who cares about other news anymore.

things change we're seeing changes in chiplet design and architectures. we will see speed increases, but I think it's not a prority these days.I think core to core communication latency/speed is more crucial these days.On new architectures I mean, not antiquated ones like skylake.

Lol the irony of the post of Agonist is just. Amazing.

yup.and those who clicked like too.lol. this was easier than taking a candy from a baby.

If I look at that Apple chip, anything Intel / AMD is just a fecking joke.
don't you think that big+little design was invented mainly cause it's hard to fit more than 8 cores into a acceptable power envelope ? It can end up a brilliant design,it already is in apple's portable computers, but for desktop - the better the cores, the better the performance.it's simple.

That is also a tad different. at 120sqm it's not the smallest either at 5nm. 16 billion transistors. It has same amount of transistors as xbox series x SoC. Apple chip is good but it's not something Intel or AMD would make as how would they be able to sell something like that. Their general purpose processors are quite a bit smaller transistor wise. 5800x having something like 4 billion as it's one CCD. I really don't see the comparison between an SoC and what you can get from your local hardware store and install into a machine. Sure Intel and AMD could be building similar SoC but who would buy them?
