Man that 5820K is looking really tasty!!! And that DDR4 memory, so sweet! And i really need a new system... I need more MB reviews and some OC results on that 5820K to make up my mind. Great review as always!

Test that CPU with IntelBurn test at 4.9GHz max memory and see how long the test last with that voltage.
I can't, dont have the chip its in SouthAfrica atm lol and from what I saw IBT is not ok for Haswells, tooo hot. 5ghz needs a hefty 1.475v, so its not the best looking Haswell refresh. But a free trade sounds nice, will see with postage, if its 60€+ then no go. Might as well save up extra 40 and buy 280L H2o cooler and lower that temp gap 😀 Sorry for offtopic 🤓

Damm Amd just got Smashed! 8 cores 16 threads if only it didnt cost $1000 dollars! But even the 6 core 12 thread is more then enough, iam going to start saving for a system like this.

I still feel like my choice to upgrade from my Q6600 to my 4790K was a better choice than waiting for this. Thanks for the awesome review as always.
I am with you mate. There is no way that I could wait either for this nor could afford the parts. Well any way not bad OCing stats for an 8 core/ 16 threads cpu. Also I don't want to deal with any possible bugs with DDR4 memory.

Thanks for the reviews, boss, lot of work there. Seems that 5960X of yours is a bit of a pig with the voltage, some of the other reviews I've glanced over need 1.3 or maybe less for 4.4 GHz, but I guess we'll have to wait and see to see what commercial samples can manage. Best get saving my pennies to pay for one of these beastly things 😀

Im ready to pull the plug on AMD, but on the same note, im ready to just put my current rig under full water and add another 780ti to the mix... Just not sure what to do.... would be nice to get a true 8 core but at the same note Im already running 100+fps on the games I play .

A 2nd card would be a waste of time. FX cant handle two 780tis. Your best bet would be to get the 382$ 6 core, thats already,what, 50% faster than fx

Really tempted by the the 5960X but part of me thinks that it's probably a better idea to let DDR4 and the X99 platform mature a bit before I take the plunge, my old 980X still does a great job so it's difficult to justify the upgrade. Great review though Hilbert, would be nice to see Crysis 3 as part of the CPU benchmarks, really likes more cores.

Yes ! The H105 used in the reform conforms to that 'old' 2011 socket.

Are we at least getting a Mini ITX mobo for the x99 platform? I keep reading something about the CPU die being too big or some such guessing similar to x79? I wanted to build a mini PC if I couldn't grab an 8 core, might be a reasonable build with the 5820K or should I just go for a 4790k z97 and save a grand what do you guys think?

all we need now is a stellar game that runs optimal only on minimum 6 core cpu. no excuses then. though prolly have to wait till xbone2 i dunno ..
Star Citizen will.. should push all 6 cores.. and will probably need them once you're in a computational heavy instance, but it will still do well on a quad as well.

Thanks for the review of this Extreme Product. One question though from an AMD user "Not a fan boy by any mean as I'm too old to be one" In such a wonderful review one expect to see the the extreme product from the only "competing" company listed. the AMD FX-9590 Some times even the good old FX-8350 get dropped from the comparison charts while the flop FX-8150 still finds its place on that same chart. I'm not saying that to hint there is a any hope of an actual competition, but it would be very interesting to see the gap between the TOP AMD CPU with this state of the art Behemoth of a CPU. Thanks in advance for your subjective answer.

@ stock settings your probably right. But with the cpued to at least 4.8ghz and your NB at 2600 and HT at 3000+ you can run quad xfire or sli without a problem. I know you will say its impossible, but iv seen it done and the cores will only be at 90% load or lower..
