Mwahaha, i paid 265€ for my prehistoric i7 920, so no thanks, i wait for Skylake. But i suspect similar ridiculous overpricing there as well. And i blame AMD, for not being a real competitor.

my 920 is gona be replaced by the 6700k unless they come out with 6 or 8 core between now and the time i actual upgrade my pc that has base clock of 4ghz

If true then AMD's new 16 core 8+8 will sell like hot cakes. I'm already looking into switching to AMD's new up coming FX chip, if they do improve it by the 40% single core performance they are claiming then i'll jump ship for one of those because Win 10 + DX12 + Gaming will love these new 8cores with HT and better core performance.

I'll pass because to me this CPU is priced too close to the E series CPUs. Since my 4790k will last me for a good many years to come. Plus when I decide to upgrade again Ill probably go for a prebuilt E based system like a 6 or and 8 core CPU.

Lol at the price 😀
I have no intend to upgrade anyway but this makes sticking with current one so much more easy.

Doubt i'll be upgrading for a while 😀

Also To me the only other reason to purchase this CPU is to test out the Iris Pro graphics and see how they would fair vs an AMD APU.

on overclocking the 8320e. It was weird--I stumbled on this article after I bought the new stuff--and the guy's using the exact hardware I bought...;)
Honestly, though, I think what happens with the "E"s is fairly positive...note that they are only recent additions to the Vishera line...and I think that's because AMD has been increasing yields to the point where they can bin a sizable number of 125W cpus which will run just as fast--or about as fast--at a TDP of 95W...! That indicates really excellent yields on the process--I would think. Plus, my old cpu, an FX-6300 was not an E but TDP'ed at 95W just the same, and I had little trouble clocking it to ~4.5GHz with stock cooling & voltage settings (auto would max it at 1.45v or so.)
I enjoyed this very brief article CronoGraal
