Damn this looks very promising! I am more and more tempted to jump AMD bandwagon, but...need to wait for new Zen iteration, this, plus this software may, may be a tick that finally push me to switch.

As if consumption wasn't good enough already, impressive there's still a margin to improve upon!

I wonder is he doing this all this alone or is he somehow cooperating with AMD? If not they definitely should. However i dont have any good experience with DRAM Calculator. Tested it with 3 PCs (1700X, 2600X, 3900X) and 0.5-2 years old RAM and got not one of them stable even with the "safe" settings.

I will take this with a pinch of Salt, am all for the development of extra options but am uncomfortable with its low level access, I must confess I also installed the power profile and found it locked my CPU to a low clock speed for some odd reason when I removed it I got normal behaviour back

He does soo much for us that have AMD, and its always top software. Thanks, @1usmus

thank for this great work 1USMUS

That sounds awesome, thanks 1usmus. Can't wait to use this. So begins the hype. 🙂

This sounds great but sadly it seems that it won't work for those of us who use virtualization features in Windows as that prevents Ryzen Master from working, which is a dependecy for CTR if I'm not mistaken. That's hardly 1usmus's fault though.

Day 1 Download, I have 2 Chiplets so I can take advantage of this software

Nice work!

just to make sure since this will not consume more power so no degrading to the silicon life time ?

Increasing performance by 7% wile reducing power consumption by 9.5% is allot! How much can you actually push it keeping voltage, tdp and consumption stock? @Hilbert Hagedoorn will we see an article with new benchmarks? I suspect the difference between AMD and Intel will be negligible.

@north wiebesick Go to your BIOS and set a negative CPU voltage offset. Start with -0.05 and test Cinebench. You may lose a few points but temperatures should decrease. If you want to explore more, try -0.1. I have my Ryzen 2600 with -0.1 and rocks. Hope this software is updated for Zen later, or maybe sometime in the future when I update from my 2600 I can use it. Awesome software.

1USMUS thanks for ur hard work man, you rock!

kcthebrewer:

I want this but I still want my single core boost. I really wish AMD would work with him to make both happen.
Under-volt slightly via BIOS and take it from there, see how low you can get without it crashing out or sacrificing clock speeds on boosts with single / all core numbers. The cooler Ryzen runs, the better your boost speeds. I had hit 87~90C with prime 95 small FFTS (yes I deliberately* TRIED to overheat it) on a 3950x with a Noctua D-15S (and barely any thermal paste!) and my clocks dropped like a rock down to 3600~3300mhz or so. Every 5~10C or so of additional heat means another 25~50mhz drop in speed depending on your processor. Long story short, if you want your single core boosts, don't overclock the chip. Your system will likely run better outside of render work without an all-core overclock. I know I wouldn't dare try overclocking my 3950x, nope nope, it would cook me outta this room in short order somethin' serious. That said when I had my 3700x I had to wear a hoodie in here unless I was running BeamNG Drive with lots of traffic (which uses all these cores, up until you hit the DX11 draw call limit for your system/map). The way I see it is If Ryzen Zen 2 isn't fast enough, you're doing something wrong with your game engine/scene. AMD should hire this guy (1usmus) if they haven't already! I can't thank AMD enough to be able to put a 16-core 32-thread 3950x in my existing 8-core 16-thread 3700x system when I needed it, without having to replace the motherboard etc, so I could get more done. That having to replace motherboards constantly to get a better CPU is a fool's errand.

You know I bought a 3600 just so PBR can do the work for me, but I like this. I'm excited.

This looks amazing! Stuff like this is right up there with fast cars, screaming guitars, wife cardio, red meat, and jello. I look forward to testing it out next month. 🙂

Looks promising, however it's "tuned", not "tunned". "Tunned" means "being hit in the face with a tuna" 😀. Btw. I second the notion that AMD should hire this guy. His work with both the RAM calculator and this should be more than qualifying.
