Oh god ... another embarrassing moment for gamers. It's part of the reason why I avoid competitive online games like COD, BF, and DOTA and stick to co-op. CBA dealing with fools. The amount of **** I used to read in BO2, CS GO, and BF4 multiplayer chat was ridiculous and I just disabled the function.

Probably a small sentence (<1 year) in addition to this I would think. Wouldn't it be practise to at least send a patrol car by first rather than full on SWAT?

Well, if there's a gunner on the loose that is actively shooting, you can't really take that risk. If you take the time to let the patrol car check, there's another 10 minutes (I'd guess) before you actually have everyone there. That time = lives lost.
