Well if they want to take their time at least don't set a date... This will be another Diablo 3 release. Everyone waits for it........... It comes out..... turns out to disappoint :P

With what they've shown in the prototype driver, I don't think it's possible that this driver will disappoint. There's hard scientific data behind what's happening here.

Not surprised one bit... I called it that they would delay it when they first announced it. I would not be surprised if it even slips into next week. Also... people forget that this is something that should not have even been an issue A YEAR AND HALF AGO! When they first released the hardware. Just cause there is some late adopters that just got into the HD7XXX series, doesn't mean that the people who bought a long time ago have been waiting for a while.

I can agree with this; on the other hand though, I'd rather have a proper driver than a rushed one. Wouldn't want fan controllers to be disabled or some damaging overvolting incident to occur or something 😛

Agreed, would you rather have a proper driver, or a broken POS like what Nvidia have been chucking out for the past few months.

I'd rather have a POS Beta just to test how things are going and know what to think, and then a proper WHQL driver that just *works*.

I think we'll have it by Friday at the latest. Several reviewers already have it in hand. I don't expect it to be game changing on my setup anyways since I use v-sync + fps cap + triple buffering on all my games already but I'll give them a shot.

IMO, they should've released whatever they currently have as a beta release with the note that there may be a few issues that should be ironed out in the next week or so.

WHQL means nothing, as you can easily get a broken POS WHQL driver as well, like Nvidia's 320.18s 🙂

if amd actually supported downsampling and true ssaa like nvidia does, then i would be a happy camper, until then, i think i'm going to the green team for my next upgrade. not because nvidia is superior in anyway, but because they actually listen to and provide support to their customers. they also don't lie as much as amd does.
Nop Nvidia are as honest as a company can get. That's just an impression you get. Nvidia does reach out more to its customers. It also strikes them when they're not looking. I can give several example but I'd rather not right now, in this topic.

We are sorry for the delay in Catalyst 13.8 Beta! We postponed it for additional testing. It will be released on 8/1.
