Nothing new, there is one passively cooled X570, the excellent Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme.

Sometimes, I wish I had money and knowledge to carve my own heatsinks with a CNC machine. Yes, not cheap or cost effective, but hey, man can only dream.

Asus already had fanless X570 board but just as aorus xtreme it costs a fortune.

Really? I'd gotten the Aorus Xtreme as it was the only X570 board that I could find without a chipset fan cooler. What Asus board was it? The one with the hybrid water block thingy on it?

the sad reality is a chipset heat sink is not expensive unless you cnc and powder coat it. and if one's really smart offering a fanless chipset on a mid-range model should only be a $10-$15 dollar premium even if its copper. no, you don't need to nickel plate it and you can even play off of the copper with a related color scheme.

Oh, I'd gotten my X570 Aorus Xtreme back in Sept 2019, back then, among the X570's, it was the only one that was fanless. The Dark Hero came out last year, so I kinda overlooked it as it was about a year later than mine. As you may well understand, I sorta lost interest and didn't keep up with X570 mobos after getting mine...

I don't get why any of them need fans in the first place. It's really not hard to passively cool 10-15W. Proportionately, you have to displace a lot of metal to fit the fan.

dont really recall my chipset fan coming on, other than on initial post.

I have Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero X570 and no issues with the fan, I can't hear that fan, running 8 drives plus 2 NVMe and other 2 HDD's on PCI_E SATA card, boot is slightly slower but other than that,no problems Chipset usually sits in 50's Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
you could disable all but the main from the boot list to shave a few miliseconds off.

Gigabyte fan wont spin unless it reaches 60c on chipset. With a good case airflow it wont even turn on. Like @jura11 said its mostly on low 50's.

righto. only problem is SFF where airflow is a problem to begin with (i'm looking at you ROG Crosshair VIII Impact)
