I don't think it really matters considering in most cases, you don't even need 2 of them on an AM5 board. I'm sure it's there just for those overclocking a 9950X3D with LN2.

anyway, with analogue audio and cheap studio speaker now finally running up against shit logitec/creative and co audio quality speakers.. why almost removing totally the analogue audio connectors? :| all, if almost all of them have jack/rca connection, not toslink that may be present in some amplifiers (and remember that most of speakers sold aren't passive, so those amps are useless) and even less coaxial.

i don't remember when was the last time i used an on board audio circuit . setting up the bios for the first time on any new build i disable the on board audio 🙂 usb headphones pretty much covers all my audio needs ,my kids use headphones too. On board hdmi audio is decent too. For music i use my sony amp with 2.1 speakers and a cd player with optical link 🙂 That asus mainboard with a 9950 + 32gb ram would be nice even with no audio on board at all 🙂

@Alessio1989 @GlassGR Up until a couple months ago, I've been using a 5.1 channel setup connected to integrated audio. Honestly, no complaints. Modern Realtek chips are perfectly fine so long as you're not wearing headphones or blasting the volume. Meanwhile, I do actually have complaints about HDMI audio, in that AMD's audio drivers are a bit buggy. Ostensibly, I should be seeing a patch for that soon. Also, many motherboards still support 5.1 surround with only 3 jacks, because the mic and line-in jacks can be reconfigured for the rear and center/sub channels. Generally speaking, you're not going to use the rear mic jack on a desktop (just use the front one) and if you're doing any serious recording, you shouldn't be using line-in from integrated audio, so I regard this as a non-issue.

I like that white PCB mainboard and I was going to get it for my upcoming move to AMD until I read that when one populates all four M.2 slots your PCIe x16 Slot gets nerfed to 8x even if they aren't using Gen 5 NVMe SSDs or Video cards. Hopefully another manufacturer will release a white PCB mainboard (I know Gigabyte has a grayish X670E board that does the trick, but I'd prefer proper white for my system) where you can use 4-5 M.2 Gen 4 SSDs without nerfing the PCIe Bandwith of the GPU's x16 as is the case with my current mainboard.

Seeing as you have a 4090, there's a pretty good chance you can step down to x8 lanes and see no performance reduction at all. The PCIe bandwidth is really only needed to feed VRAM but once the assets are loaded, you'll barely use x1 lane.

Most likely this would need a plx controller extra and they can give you that .

look batter at the back io. there are no more 3 jack ports https://videocardz.com/press-release/asus-unveils-amd-x870-x870e-motherboards-featuring-rog-tuf-proart-and-prime-series multichannel is just supported with toslink well not a big deal. crap multi-channel is basically dead replaced by crap soundbars. good multichannel will use anyway a dedicated interface or amp depending if active or passive.. still it's a bit sad, it's the end of an era.

After all the hype about BTF connecters - surprise surprise, NO BTF BOARDS??? I'm waiting for 9000X3D chips, BTF ASUS motherboard (with CAM2) and an RTX5090 GPU that supports BTF... Looks like its going to be a while. Maybe 2025 when the crazy prices calm down. 😉
