The backplate seem's to be well thought, let's just hope the pads and the foam to have a low thermal resistance. And they could sell just a backplate kit, it would be a nice addition to any vga watercooling set up. For a gtx880 8x pci-e might be short depending on gen too

Worst case i have to buy a new Motherboard then with better PCI-E/CPU Socket placement. The 8x would be Gen3. EDIT: Best i could dig up is this. http://images.pugetsystems.com/images/pic_disp.php?id=25614&width=601 I think a GTX880 will still be fine at Gen3 8x.

The only issue I see with that backplate is that it will take up the slot above the GPU, which would be the sound card in my case. Might still work with shuffling some cards around, but you're going to need to take that into account.

Ye, that's why i would probably need to move my new Videocard to a PCI-E 8x Gen3 Slot and my Soundcard above it in the PCI-E 1x. Would make perfect spacing for me.
