Hence my point. No point buying a waterblock for something you cant really overclock (yet). (i feel no need to stick a wb on my 970 yet even though I could).

Kind of gets you to wonder why AMD didn't use a block like this from the beginning. It's already liquid cooled, so why not? If they made the GPU a single-slot card it could've been used in [more] mini ITX cases. It also would've given them some leverage over nvidia, where the 980 Ti would be roughly 3x the size in comparison (including the length of the card, not just depth).

Looking at price tag of 100 Euro, I would say that's answer as it does not include pump and radiator. If I was into custom loops, I would love to get this pre-assembled as it would come at same price as reference. Getting this now would be like paying another 100 Euro.
It wouldn't cost 100 if they mass-produced it, and maybe used a cheaper alloy. It wouldn't surprise me if less than 500 of these blocks exist. Everything is more expensive when the supply and demand is limited.
