Made me laugh greatly, and reasures me that not buying ubicrap games is the right way for me personally.

Wow, I knew about the downgrades, but seeing them side by side with the demos is frightening. BTW was it me or even the sound assets were downgraded(Rainbow part of the video)?
It was, it was even noted that it's not only graphics downgrades.

Let's see if they become more honest as Vivendi lmao.

What I don't understand is why they do this? Is it that they build these huge Worlds, spend months manicuring great assets, texture maps, and shaders on an overpowered devkit?, i.e., so when compiled for the actual target console they realise its overspecced and they have to downgrade for FPS or resolution? Is it pressure from Sony, MS, or Ubisoft Execs to normalise content across all console and PC graphics 'just' to ensure sales on the target console platform?
You do understand why they do this 😉 Yeah, it has to run on consoles, they like annoying the smaller part of their sales, PC community, than miss out on 5 million sold console copies... it's a business decision. It's just a shame they could do so much better, push their energy into obviously better graphics, and then they have to throw it away. It's just that those games have to run on old hardware, and even with downgraded resolution it seems to still stress consoles with lots of effects.

Boycott Ubisoft for false/deceptive advertising. It's a big joke.

I really like, how this article came out 2 min after the "WatchDogs 2 Hello World Teaser".

First YT comment under the vid lol
lol !! And he is absolutely right. 🤓

Uh, I didn't read the description properly, sorry about that, but still - the guns and the sound effects are abysmal compared to the demo 🙁
Didn't try to bash you, I was surprised myself that I could actually hear the difference. Not that my hearing is bad (it's actually above average for my age), but that a yt video and my work laptop's speakers could bring it out!

I bought Far Cry 4 for few bucks on Steam sale, and i don't complain 🙂

And i though Watch dogs looked good, until i saw what that video. lol Oh well, thankfully i never pre-order or buy at launch these days, so i am free of getting caught out on this stuff, but bummer for the pre-order crowd. lol

Could have gotten it for free, still politely declined 😉 But you're right, on a budget things look different. Not much to complain about graphical fidelity if you don't pay 60€ launch price, the pricing argument changes things greatly (or if the game is already a year old etc.)

This is scary stuff but also well known. Though I'm sure they wouldn't downgrade Rayman 😉

I've already made a conscious decision to boycott any game designed to run on anything other than PC only.
Sadly, that will leave you with almost no games besides indie ones. And there are still worthy 'big' titles out there, too. But I know what you mean... it's just the environment has changed... PC is the overflow of console sales these days, instead of a seperate branch in the gaming business. I bet you won't hear the words 'we won't bring this to consoles' anytime soon.

we all know E3 is maxed out PC graphics + hidden options. If the other footage is console i would say that you can't compare both. We all know consoles can't run these games at what ever E3 is showing lol.
At the beginning it says that all the actual final gameplay footage was recorded on a high end pc with everything maxed and a controller, time code 0:24.

I doubt even the PC versions in those videos were ever real or looked anywhere like that in real time, videos always looked ike they were totally staged.

Disgustingly deceptive , Ubisoft need to have their backsides spanked for very misleading and false advertising of their so called AAA games ...........................

This dramatic downgrades are just because of consoles. PCs could probably run E3 games, but consoles can't, not even in a dream. So to protect console market witch is big they downgrade PC versions too, so the console fans wouldn't complain about the epic difference. Today we would have much, much better graphics in games if it weren't for consoles witch are suffocating graphic's progress on PCs.

I actually think there's something else going on here. The clue is in the big differences in all assets used in all games shown at events like E3 etc. I suspect the "event-versions" are actually what we'd call "tech-demo", running on a different engine altogether with proper lighting, smoke, textures...even sounds as you've noticed. What they seem to do is take small portions of the real game and remake it at a much higher-quality and this is then presented as representative of the real game when infact it's just a tech-demo of what the game could be like, but, not what it's actually like. This explains the assets and even interface differences etc. Kinda-like those UE4 demos. Small portions of the game, just enough to make you "wow" and "awe" (and think it's real) and ofcourse, buy the eventual product which is much lower-quality and not because of consoles either, the real games are lower-quality because they were made that way.

^^Yeap, it is always telling that these reveals are alway pre-recorded, never live. ha Just watch E3 next week and see how many videos are pre-recorded with games that look way too good for even PC tech to reach.

False advertising, they could be sued.
It's not though. In every pre-release footage, it is always noted that these games are still in development and are subject to change. It's crappy, but not illegal.
