Then it is up to the parent to have the child explain what the in-game currency is for and see that the child has spent the in-game currency as explained. The adult is also making an uniformed purchase otherwise. So many learning scenarios vaporized just because the government knows how to raise and teach children better than their own parents.

sure leave it to the kid to know that he is gambling. anyway this is easily solved the same way violent video games and explicit content in music were solved, just put it on the box.

What part of what I have been saying is stating that it is left up to the kid? I am saying that it is up to the parent. The child needs to get the parent involved and if the parent is diligent enough, will engage the child about their reasoning. This law is removing that opportunity. Stating rather that as parents we are too busy to be that involved in our children's lives...here let us step in and allow you, as a parent, to have one less item to think about. How benevolent of them. Horse hockey. Parents raise their children the best way they see fit and to the best of their ability. If providing our children with the tools to cope with and function in society is not job one, priorities are not exactly ideal for raising children. The government stepping in and allowing this "over sight" to be corrected is not addressing the underlying cause. It is just reacting to and treating a symptom. That is the only thing to be taken from this misguided Senator's approach.

doesn't really matter to me what the bill does just as long as it prevents the spread of loot boxes to every game that comes out in the next decade. like most bills the draw is bringing to light an issue, even if its just going to fail the moment it hits congress. no one likes a nanny state. but we are discussing it right now, like I hope they do before it gets to the point of no return.
