Looks like another blower type cooler. I just hope that the TDP of these cards isn't anywhere near 95*C Also, please god sort out the noise issues. These stock coolers are always leaf blowers!

It looks like they are going for some kind of improving of the cooler. I mean too bad they wouldn't use a similar cooler to what the r9 295x2 has.

OMG! AMD has finally come to their senses, what after 6-7years :P 🙂

Is that a triple-slot Cooler ? It could well be by the looks of it.

TBH the blower coolers are better than say, having 2 of those 1U fans you have on a rack server blowing at 5K RPM.

If it has holes for Water, it means it's another hot head failure. Then again, shouldn't be hard to beat the 980 seeing it's only 3% faster than 780 Ti.

Any TDP over 200W warrants liquid cooling, regardless if it's for a CPU or GPU. AMD probably also want to take case airflow out of the loop (p.n.i.).

Indeed, i'll still wait for the custom air cooleds though :P

The fact that Asetek is the source of the photo pretty much confirms that, whatever the card is, it will be watercooled. The fan will be for cooling memory/PCB/VRM.

Rumors now say 30% faster.
Wasn't that it's around 5% faster the the 780Ti but about 30% faster the the plain 780? The main thing for Maxwell was the lower power consumption.

Typo, 0.30% 😀

Sorry I think you are wrong regarding heat and power... I am after a 770 with at least 4GB, nearest price is like £260, i.e. too much! A 280x with same performance is like £200. For that price I would snap it up in heart beat! But even today I am still reading about artifacts still popping up in games? My last AMD card 8 years ago had artifacts, hence why I left AMD for Nvidia! For me it's the DRIVERS that are keeping me away!
Idk, I know multiple people with 290/280xs and none of them seem to have massive driver problems. I think both Nvidia/AMD are equivalent when it comes to drivers and have been for some time now.

I thought that's just normal air cooler with 295X look, using big axial vent.. Or is this suppose to be a hybrid like 295X is? edit: ah nvm need to read more carefully 😀

I love playing games @ 1080p with my 290X, every game is a damn joke... Now if I could only get a better CPU :\ My i7 920 is aging.

Some rumors say 30% faster than a ti. I tend to believe that more than 3%. Gk110 has been out a very long time.
Just curious to where you heard that from? I really hope that is true, I'll have a reason to upgrade.

Right, 970GTX has 1 -2 smx disabled vs full GM204 and its slower then 780GTX, I really doubt those extra SMX will do 30% boosts.. We saw the diff between 670 vs 680gtx..

LOL!!!!!!!! That article is based on a post in oc.uk forums where Gibbo speculated it will not beat the 780Ti with no proof. He later made a statement in that same thread about the "journalist" writing articles sighting his post as the source. So here you go the 980 will beat the 780Ti by 1,000,000% in Fire strike extreme and will only consume 1W all while making you a turkey sandwich. Source: Me (all it takes is a post in a forum to be considered credible right)
Dammit, where's my sammich?! :P

No it doesn't. That is why Arctic Cooling exists and we have this cooler ranghttp://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/accelero-xtreme-iv.html rated for a 300W cooling capacity. I had one of the older models I think it was the 3rd iteration on my old GTX480 and it cooled it to 55C full load running Kombuster torture test for 1hr and I had that card overclocked to 700/1800/2000 @ 1.2v and we all know how power hungry and hot those 480's were.
