Good news. DOWN with intel: let's not purchase any CPUs from them, for the certain period of time. Let's teach bullies a lesson. If we (customers) don't, who else will?

so they refined the process in one year for zen+? that sure is nice to hear! i hope they ironed out the wattage bump/surge past ~1.3v, as this blip/leakage/watever in the original process power consumption is certainly wats holding back clocks to the 4ghz range

For me the biggest obstacle right now for upgrading is the stupid high ddr4 prices. They cost more than the cpu itself.
This, 8 years ago 16GB DDR3 1600 where a lot cheaper then 16GB DDR4 3200 today. And I am going to have a 32GiB RAM system when I will change my main desktop, but not today, I am not going to spend more money on RAM then CPU + MB combo, both high end.

I assume with Ryzen getting up to 16 cores it will effectively double up threadrippers core count.

I wonder if the chipset B350 will work with these new processors because they only mention X370.
It will be an AGESA microcode update which has been the same across the B350 and X370 so I have high confidence the B350 boards will get the support.

I think you misread the chart. It said 16 threads, not cores. The core counts will likely be the same for AM4 and TR4.

Yea this, I recently paid about 200EUR for my 16GB DDR4 3200 kit. 6 years ago when I purchased my Sandy build I paid less than 50EUR for 16GB DDR3 1333. I wanted to go 24 or 32GB but with these prices hell no, I'm good.

I'm interested. Was originally looking at Intel's 8700K, but if the price is right and single core performance a bit better, I might go AMD after 15 years.

Not entirely sure it's fair to say "1" year, as in reality i'm sure they were working on future features/refinement/etc. before Ryzen originally released. But, again, this would not be Zen2

Any chance the 400 chipset will support quad channel memory?

This so much! I was so close to getting an 1900x with black friday, but I just couldn't justify the boatload of money I'd have to spend on the full package. Especially getting decent samsung b-die ram was painfull in regards to availibility here in Europe.

The memory controller isn't part of the chipset, it's part of the CPU. The memory controller is unlikely to support quad channel memory since all we're looking at is a refresh product.

Idk why non upper high end would be quad channel. Been that way with intel. X79 and X99 and X299 quad channel. Below that was dual channel. Should be the same with AMD. Personally, I cant wait to get the R5 1600 refresh. Ill be stocked to have it @ 4.2 with 12 threads. 1500x is just to tide me over. I got spoiled with 12 thread cpus, X5650@ 4.5 ghz and 3930k @ 4.6ghz before this 1500x.

Why increase the production and sale price of a processor for quad channel? Show me 1 instance where it provides a proven, tangible benefit to consumers. Without using synthetic benchmarks.

I completely agree. I only saw a small difference with quad channel when using sli and crossfire while pushing 7680x1080 res with 3 21:9 monitors. Thats it. It seemed to really help the min fps. Thats the only reason I even got an X79 setup. A shit load of pcielanes and sata 6gb native. X58 lacked 3.0 pcie and native sata 6gb. And I went to ryzen because its new, I wanted an AMD rig again, and wanted m.2 support.

I'm looking forward to see the results of teh refresh threadripper. I've been on this 4790k for too long.
If gaming, why get a TR? Unless you do more then game.

I do more than game.
Perfect then. I still use a dual X5550 server for anything not gaming. Its not top of the line anymore but it does what I need. Id kill to have TR but id only go with an 8 core cpu for it. But I dont need all of that anymore like with my previous X79./X58 setups.
