May be higher base clock (even then it doesnt make sense , as it is a 6 core cpu vs 8core)

way too loose rating so they fit almost any quality chip has 6 working cores from 66 watts up to 95 so lower binned chips the only thing i can assume other than 1 of the 2 is a lie really edit (forgot to say what i wanted to begin with ...lol ) Darn it ... i was so hopping 8 cores for the r5 to be true .... right now with my 1600 i might hold and not get a 3600 maybe later down the line a 3700 when the 4000 series arive will see

Exactly, it's just 200Mhz difference, it shouldn't make such a TDP difference. I'll go for a 4.4Ghz chip, undecided on the number of cores though.

That 3600x is what I want. Perfect upgrade from my 1600. Ill still be on my X370 for a bit till I get an X570 board. I dont know if I will replace my ram as its 3000 currently. I may do it down the road also.

$200 USD for a 6/12 chip with IPC that's probably beyond Intel. About time. Screw you Intel, my wallet still hurts from those 11 years of abuse. I want that 3900X... but $500 USD is likely to end up being $800 CAD before it gets into my hands after conversion, the "charge Canadians more" tax, and tax tax. And the environmental fee, which is also taxed even though it itself is a tax. Maaaan, I was hoping to pay no more than $600.

Is it not safe to assume that a 6 core chip will struggle with games that push the upcoming consoles(if they do end up with 8/16 @ 3.2GHz)? PC versions may be clocked much higher, but the consoles do have 2/4 more cores/threads...

I highly doubt it. Even an X58 6 core can still push games rather well and they are behind sandybridge IPC. Alot of games still dont even push all of my 12 threads beyond 50% most of the time.

You seem to be missing my point) The PC isn't yet getting ports of those upcoming "beasts". "X58 6 core" @ 4GHz is indeed still doing great.

Cry me a river, it will be at least 650€ with tax here in EU, that's almost a 1000 CAD.

Fox2232:

Nay, that would be $600 USD base. It will be around 550 EUR with tax in EU.
That's without any markup and assuming that the retailers actually account for the difference of USD and EUR, which they typically don't.

Wrong. And even if it wasn't, that'd only be specific areas, not the majority. Year after year I've seen EU prices, they're only "higher" than CAD prices due to taxes being included in the base price while they aren't here. I know using your brain isn't your strength, but Canada is right next to the US and a lot of the costs associated with selling in other countries does not apply here at all. It's straight price gouging here as opposed to fees you don't see listed on the price tag in the EU. On top of that, it's all relative to the income and cost of living of the average person of not just the specific country, but area. Being Canadian, that river would cost more than you could ever afford. Don't ask for what you can't have. 99% of which would go to a multi billionaire politician with all their funds in an offshore account. Hey, they gotta keep growing their Lamborghini collection somehow, without paying for it themselves. If you think life is so cheap and easy here, feel free to move here any time.

Fox2232:

Actually here even RTX cards costs exactly USD MSRP (w/o VAT) * conversion_rate * local_vat. Time of crypto price gouging is over for now.
We'll see, it's not like I want high price.

Great that you got me so figured out and know what I can and can't afford. You live in one of the richest parts of the world, yet you cry over the price of the electronics. If it is so extremely expensive, as you claim, then just buy it from US, since "Canada is right next to the US".

Rant:
One of the richest in the world? Yes, but that's relatively. That doesn't mean the average person isn't living check to check in poverty. The average person here literally does live check to check, cannot afford to miss one. It's a tiny % which have the massive majority of the country's wealth, much like other corrupt places in the world. It's just at a higher level here. The cost of living in certain places is so absurd, with little opportunity to leave ("lulz just move somewhere cheaper"), that people live miserable poverty style lives even if they technically are not below the poverty line and their money would make them "rich" in other places of the world. To prevent everyone in Canada from buying from the US we get slammed with fees intentionally made so high to make sure no one does. In my experience it's usually been a minimum of 25% of the item's price, before having another fee, along with an expensive delivery fee, and 13-15% tax thrown on top of all of it. As in the 25%, expensive delivery, and other fee get taxed as well. Despite all that, sometimes we DO buy from the US anyway, since the prices difference are sometimes just that absurd. It depends what it is. A major point in all I'm saying, is that even if Canadian dollars are worth X amount compared to another currency, it's meaningless to directly compare it. Currency here when it comes to pay here is treated as if there is no inflation or loss of value, wages have not on averaged changed much since $1 CAD was $1.10 USD. Pay remains mostly the same, while everything for sale has skyrocketed in cost. So even if something "only" costs the same as it does in the US, to us it's as if it's a lot more expensive anyway, since we'll never be making as much to break even, and even if we did it'd be taken away due to cost of living. Example: When I was a kid a loaf of bread was $0.50, a loaf (of the garbage mass produced stuff) is $4-6 now depending on brand, which is far far beyond inflation + loss of currency value. The currency is actually worth MORE than it did at that time. Meanwhile minimum wage increased by about 60% since then... and here's the kicker, those making above that have barely had their wages change at all. And no, recently it hasn't been that bad at all compared to the US prices because the value of our currency compared to theirs plummeted and they finally figured they can't charge more to compensate since there would be too much loss of sales. I just expect to get fracked over on the price of the 3900X. Yeah, I know I live in one of the "best" places in the world. These are first world problems, on a first world board, about first world items.
Regardless, I doubt these items are going to be THAT highly priced in most places in Europe. Let's hope I'm right.

I see your point, but it can be made about literally every country on this planet. Everywhere there are people who live from paycheck to paycheck. The reason why I said that Canada is one of the richest places on this planet is because of the amount of money you get. Compare yourself to i.e. someone living "paycheck to paycheck" on 500€, the goods are just as expensive for them as they are for you, if not more due to taxes. Anyway, we'll soon see the retail prices in the shops, so hope you can buy whatever cpu you want, have a nice day.
