I just had the weirdest freeze with this driver. When I applied the registry keys and rebooted my system, it worked fine for a minute, then the big freeze occurred, just like with the pro drivers. This time, it kept having a USB dropout on my Xbox controller. When the freeze happened, it disconnected and reconnected, and then when the PC came back from the freeze, the dropout occurred again. The thing is, what does enabling HAGS on an AMD dGPU driver have to do with the USB connected to my Intel Z790 mobo?

@The Creator AFMF is not expected in the regular drivers till Q1 2024 at the earliest.

Is this a bot?
Undying:

Is there any difference in performance?
I have no numbers of previous drivers to compare to, unfortunately.

I guess these drivers are meant for game journos having access to early review code. I expect the regular WHQL driver for the unwashed masses next week.

No support for HAGS in the 6000 series is a let down. This is not an essential feature, but it's sad that older AMD GPUs are left behind, again.

Don't be sorry. I don't see any noticeable benefits of HAGS on my system. It's the same with all HAGS drivers till now (including UWP 39003 for example). 3DMark SpeedWay HAGS On: 5959 3DMark SpeedWay HAGS Off: 5962

Im curious about performance in games and if there is a difference. So far i would rather have afmf than hags.

I still would love more care in DX11 driver optimisations, especially draw calls :V Would be a good start if they fix some UE4 VRAM saturation when SAM is on.

It also still has other issues, e.g. you always need to wait a few minutes after each start of Overwatch 2 until shader validation has caught up and lets the game run at normal CPU performance. Really weird that this still isn't fixed. Or that there are almost no complaints about it.

Probably they don't want to change their resource management like this at this point anymore. Funny thing is VKD3D-Proton/RADV consumes less VRAM and often even runs smoother...
data/avatar/default/avatar36.webp
getting 12GB VRAM filled on some UE4 games with SAM isn't a low priority thing in my opinion :_V

What games exactly? I have few UE4 games like Ghostrunner 2, Witchfire and Dead Island 2 and they run great with sam enabled. Vram usage isnt reaching even 12gb in those tittles.

Ya, that sounds extreme. Haven't seen that. E.g. Hogwarts without RT is ~9-10.5GB.

Do you have any source of that? EA WRC is giving me some problems, and it's UE4.

Such a shame since even Navi 4x is rumored to have the same performance as the 7900 GRE/6900 XT.
Hm? 6900xt can barely keep with 7800xt let alone 8800xt which is rumored to have Navi31 XT performance targets.

My apologies, but you're smoking dick; that's just straight-up erroneous. As for the 8800 XT, it's just rumors, so no one will be correct in guessing until it's officially announced, but I was referring to what they call "Navi 48," which seems to be a monolithic Navi 32 on RDNA 4's architecture, not the Navi 31 "refresh" die, which is an even less credible leak.

Sorry sir but 7800xt is very similar performance to 6900xt. Idk what benchmarks did you watch but it is what it is. Rumors are all over the place for navi 4x we can only guess at this time.

No afmf guess i skip not playing new avatar game anyway.
Undying:

Im staying with afmf drivers it works fine. Have a feeling we wont even get hags on rdna2.
It will be like SAM and come later, AMD driver team is small they cannot gaurantee good experience for both rdna2 and 3 so they probably decided to go rdna3 first, i hope this wont be the case for anti-lag+ once it comes back

I ran the Forspoken benchmark. It seems that the performance is better with HAGS turned off. 1440P + FSR 3.0 FG Native AA: HAGS On 87 FPS vs HAGS Off 89 FPS https://i.imgur.com/MfhbBv1.png [youtube=-KrNuX0kVGQ]
