As long as it is ~210% the performance of 5700xt, 16GB VRAM and around $550-600, they have me.
Try $700 minimum for that card, you think AMD is out for anything other than profit?

PrMinisterGR:

There is no way anyone is buying a $600+ GPU in 2021 to play in 1080p, not even 1440p. If they do, they need to upgrade their peripherals. Whatever is out at this range needs to do well at 4k.
Some might because at these resolutions RT will actually run at a decent framerate.

When the price and performance is revealed it would make your 3090 purchase to be the stupidest decision you ever made.
I'm all for AMD success, but this is getting personnal. Only him can be judge of that. If AMD comes out of the wood with a 3090 killer across the board, i buy you a beer (or a coffee?). Best,

The poster and all the ones that liked the post would all give their left nut for a 3090, you know it and i know it brother. On the other side of the coin is abject poverty and the struggle for a decent rig while AMD are seen as this mythical saviour of the poor lol, you gotta laugh.

I think a lot of gamers prefer 1080p with higher refresh rate than push 1440p or 4k. 360HZ panels are starting to be sold. Some people like higher res and some people prefer high refresh rates.

If i have 120hz panel but can only push say 80fps would i get tearing?
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/256/256969.jpg
There's 4K@60Hz / 2.5K@75Hz panels at 250$, if i had a 1080p monitor i would start looking into that before GPUs.

Yes, without freesync/gsync. But it's much less noticeable at high refresh rate (over 60) than it is at low (between 30-60), simply because the tear line only shows for a very small amount of time, then in the next frame it will be somewhere else. It's unlikely that your eyes can pick it during normal gameplay, unless you're intentionally looking for it. But considering that most modern monitors support vesa adaptive sync (aka, freesyinc), are you sure your 120hz monitor doesn't support it as well ? (It should work with both AMD and Nvidia GPU)

Thanks for great reply, i've never owned anything over 75hz and have always able to reach that kinda fps, i've very little monitor knowledge but more the wiser now. Sry for off topic. *Looking to upgrade monitor soon.

Oh, you'll have a blast ! High-refresh-rate is way, way more fun than higher resolution. My primary monitor is "only" 100Hz, my TV is 120Hz, my laptop has an 144Hz panel (but only FHD) ... and I can't go back gaming on my older 60Hz displays... they just "don't feel right" You may not notice the extra smoothness at first when you go from 60-75 to higher, but you WILL notice the lack of smoothness when you go back to that 60-75 after having used the 120+ for a while!

Problem is that you need to push those 100fps+ to actually see the benefit of high refresh rate monitor. Buying a 144hz monitor with a gpu that can barely deliver 60fps makes no difference to a regular 60hz monitor.

I'll maybe hunt down a monitor soon, ain't a good time for gpu purchase right now though i'm getting hyped about big navi. I can see a time when AMD competes with nvidia on the RT side, mainly due to the shared console hardware. Would be sweet if witcher 3 RT ran on AMD out of the gate waw! The more big navi impresses the more nvidia 7nm supers will have to.

Plenty of evidence going around showing that the 72 CU versions is neck on neck with the 3080. I wonder where the 80 CU version will fall, I do not think it will match the 3090 but one can dream. If the price is right and they have plenty in stock I’m sure it will be a massive success for AMD.

If ever everything goes well this will be another hd5870 vs gtx480.
https://forums.guru3d.com/data/avatars/m/282/282392.jpg
At the risk of sounding entitled we deserve a good launch after the shambles nvidia gave us, i had money for 3080 and two weeks holiday booked for it, bailed a week before launch when i seen zero pre-orders. When do AMD cards launch?

That was a beautiful point in time. Man I had such good times with my 5870 - and that price vs. the 480! Damn good cards. Had to upgrade to a GTX 680 a while after getting a 1440p monitor, think that was in mid 2011, that 1gig RAM just wasn't cutting it anymore in Battlefield.

AMD will reveal this in their event on the 28th.

I'm glad Nvidias launch fiasco occurred. If only for AMD to get a chance to steal the spotlight (however temporarily) and deliver a decent product with available stocks. If AMD can somehow manage to slightly alter market share with Nvidia, we can begin to see proper competition again with more aggressive pricing.

I wonder what nVidia will do if the 6900XT is very good.
If I have to guess, nvidia will release Titan and 3090Ti...
