Undying:

Buy a 6800 then flash bios to 6800xt. ๐Ÿ˜€
That would be cool but spending almost 600โ‚ฌ hoping for that to happen seems a little risky to me... And this may be AMDยดs way of selling the 6800...

I just called local shop, they told me " there is not a chance we have them with in two weeks".

So just finished speaking to two etailers where I have accounts and who both had launch cards of 3080 and they have both stated NO 6800 STOCK tomorrow. They will be getting AIB stock for 25th but probably not enough.

From Overclockers forums; "There will be no RX6800XT or RX6800 available for sale in the UK tomorrow. The was only one confirmed shipment for one retailer in the UK of 35 units. That's right guys, only 35 units for one retailer for the entire UK. No other retailer will have any units. The 2000 units that were meant to be coming are not coming tomorrow."

AIB probably saving chips for their own models. Stock will be higher on 25th. It will be a 3080 launch all over again anyway, little to none stock for one month, aib or not.

Fox2232:

They can't. Only thing AIBs do with reference card is to put their sticker on card and place it into their box. And AIBs are launching custom cards 7 days after references do. UK likely gets middle finger from EU for leaving. It is likely that EU will have reasonable availability. And then it is on ability of shops/chains to reserve cards.
I was guessing that apart from the "must buy" amd card stock, they were able to choose buying more of them or "just the chip".

God, I hope I can get one in the damn next 3 months or so. 6800XT will be mine.

Lordhawkwind:

Read what he says. They have more than 35 OF EACH MODEL. They are launching the 6800 and 6800XT which is two models. It's not 35 cards per brand. They could have less than 100 cards and that's still more than 35 of each model
You can always buy from AMD store in most European countries. ๐Ÿ™‚

yeah Brexit sucks.
I don't think this has anything to do with Brexit. Pandemic and already tight supply of a massive new gpu chip at work. Looking above it seems it's rubbish. Thought that guy saying that was one of the overclockers stock buyers. Oh Well. Lol, the mods have deleted that thread there too, as too many people believed it ๐Ÿ™‚

Yep,same story as Rtx 3000 launch. Someone maybe will get the info to know who is the culprit: -TSMC have enough good waffers and provide enough good chips to AIBs? -Samsung,Hynix,Micron provide enough Vram chips? -AIBs (MSI,Gigabyte,Sapphire,Asus,Asrock,Xfx) have enough Pcbs from chinese mfg, have enough other materials to put on Pcbs and in boxes? Lot of questions and less info about this.
https://i.redd.it/h9rm91ewusz51.jpg
to early even to surmise ANY of the above. there are new logistical headaches at every level in each country supplying parts from resistors up to pcb, not all are Chinese. i'm eager too, but this ain't the iPhone and i do know that TSMC is very efficient with NO ISSUES at this node, VRAMS had looked in decent supply. a large amount of parts incl cpu, gpu come from Taiwan with Taiwanese pcbs. China is going to less a problem than most countries in reality.
