Sounds nice, I'll be looking at these and the 8900 Series when launched to upgrade my two 6950's. Hopefully we'll see something by Xmas/New Year that would be nice.

This, if true, may well explain why there have been multiple price reductions to the existing range in a relatively short amount of time. Inventory clearing I'm guessing.

Looking good, 7970 replacement should be a beast.

Nice. My relatively new 7950s are already starting to look 'old'. Not to mention the huge price drop after I bought them. It seems GPUs are the component in the PC that sees larger/faster price drops. I used to think buying a powerful but 'price dropped' GPU was the way to to as far as buying GPUs are concerned. But these days the next generation is always around the corner and takes away all the excitement from the current 'previous gen' purchase. 🙁

I've been fortunate enough to catch some really good deals on my last 2 upgrades - to the point of where I sold my HD 5850 and almost broke even when I upgraded to my HD 6970, and then again when I bought my HD 7970 I only spent about $50 overall after selling the previous card. So, if you time it right and hunt for deals you can sometimes do pretty well with a more frequent upgrade. *I must confess the only real reason I upgraded the last time was because I ran out ov VRAM in Skyrim. 😛

Base your GPU purchases on what what you need, not on what is the shiniest and newest. I've had my 5870's for years now and they still run my games adequately. I've had them for so long I would never consider them to have been a bad purchase. Your 7950's have so much life in them it would be foolish to consider dumping them. Spend money on more games and upgrade your GPU when they can no longer play games to your satisfaction.
This is correct.

Looking very good if that is true, should be very nippy and like the even though it's bigger the power consumption is lower, also hoping the pricing is accurate as well.
Price for HD8870 at launch is rumored to be $279.99USD....not sure of prices in other countries.

Yes I will be keeping them for now, until something comes out that I cannot run at 60fps at max settings. I will also be tempted to side-grade to a single gpu solution that can provide the same performance for half the watts. Could 8970 be it? I have a feeling 8xxx series will be here by Christmas. Finger crossed.

Feels like the 7000 series was launched only a few days ago .. nvidia shouldn't be far behind as well. Let's see what they've got! 😀
